It’s Summertime for developers, which means it’s time for developer conferences. Google just held its I/O developer conference a few weeks ago and today Apple is holding WWDC 2022. We should be seeing all the latest versions of Apple’s operating systems for its various products including iOS16, iPadOS16, macOS13, WatchOS9, and tvOS16. What’s more, the Apple store has shut down ever before the big WWDC keynote, so we’re almost assured to see one hardware announcement at this normally software-focused show.

When to watch Apple Unleashed

Apple will hold its WWDC 2022 keynote on Monday, June 6 at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm BST (Tuesday, June 7th at 3am AWST).

Where to Watch Apple Unleashed

You can watch Apple’s keynote on its events website and YouTube using just about any on macOS, iOS, iPad, and Windows machines including Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. All you need is a web browser that supports MSE, H.264 and AAC encoding – so you’re not limited to just Safari and Edge anymore. Additionally, those with Apple TV can watch the stream on their big TV from the comfort of the couch with the Apple TV app.

What to Expect

WWDC is typically a software-only show, but the Apple Store being shut down just before the event seems to heavily imply we’ll see some new hardware as well. Many rumors point to Apple potentially announcing a new MacBook Air with the long-awaited M2 processor. Along with sport a new Apple-made processor, this new MacBook may feature a new chassis that gets rid of the tapered shape while adding a white bezel and keyboard.

On the software side, there could be just as many exciting developments. iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 are said to feature a new lock screen with widgets and notifications could be revamped too. The next version of macOS 13 is said to be named Mammoth and feature changes to native applications (i.e. Messages, Mail, Notes, and Safari) and system preferences. watchOS 9 could feature a much-improved power saver mode, while also introducing enhanced workout and health tracking on top of new watch faces. Lastly, tvOS 16 could add more smart home features.
