Aromamizer RDTA (velocity deck) build suggestions

I recently picked up the aromamizer RDTA with velocity deck by steam crave and I'm wondering if anyone can give me any ideas to help out with my builds. Right now I have a 0.16 duel vertical cool build using 24g kanthal vaping her anywhere between 60-80 watts on my snow wolf. My experience with this RDTA thus far has not been the greatest. I was very excited for the possibilities that this tank has to offer. But I find my vapes to be lacking flavor a lot with a bit of an odd foul taste on the side that I can't quite describe and although clouds are decent it's not anything like the experiences I've seen/heard on YouTube or local vape shops. Help please!!!!

Horizontal Clapton coils are better for flavor...vertical coils are better for cloud production.

I would trim the cotton at the top of the posts on that vertical build...your juice isn't going to get that high, and you're only collecting condensation from the chimney. Wick should be fluffed at the bottom, and just barely touching the bottom of the deck. You'll get better wicking that way. Also, I use Pima or Cotton Bacon, though some say they've had much better results with Rayon in these tanks.

The odd flavor could be machine oil. Did you completely take it apart, clean all the threads with cleaner, then rinse with hot water? There was a few that made it out of the factory with nasty oil in the threads of the grub screws.

My first and favorite kanthal build was a twisted 26g kanthal wrapped 6 times and set in as vertical. I was vaping in the area of 55-60W and getting great flavor and clouds.

This is what I mean by cloud production. The build is a dual vertical coil 26g Ti wire, wrapped 9 times around 3mm mandrel. It's around 0.23 ohms, and set to 500*F on the X Cube II.

I'm about to get one of these. I'm wondering if there'd be any advantage to looping the cotton from the top of one coil to the top of the other, with a vertical build...

Also, out of curiosity, do you still get dry hits if you lower the power? For example start at 30 and work your way up...

It would be better if you make them slightly off center and angled, make it so when you have the airflow (cyclonic) open it hits most of the coil closest to it and then across and touch the back of the opposite coil. This is what I did for my Aromamizer...
I also have drilled out the juice inlets to 2.4mm each on both sides to increase the amount that can flow in to the wicks and may add more inlets spread across the deck, but this seems fine for this build and Ive been rocking it around 60w with no hint of a dry hit so far, it been 4-5 days of using it.

When wicking it pull it down through the coil and make it so it touches the deck and folds a tiny bit, then use tome tweezers or w/e and fluff it as much as possible. Then for the top you can either cut it off around 6-7mm like a haircut and fluff it or make it droop and touch the deck-and fluff it....just make sure to leave a nice gap all the way around the coil

You could loop it, but there isn't much, if any, benefit out of it. In my opinion, it would be more difficult to wick it that way. As for the lower power, I always start low and work my way up on wattage, or in my current build's case, temperature. It seems to break the cotton in better, and allows you to sneak up on the sweet spot without accidentally burning your wick.

I've tried almost every combination in the aromamizer, with disappointing results. I do find that horizontal coils are better than vertical for vapor, and flavor. I've tried all sizes of kanthal, and some titanium in TC mode, and still nothing to write home about. But, I stumbled across some 26ga kanthal tiger wire in a B&M the other day, and it has brought the aromamizer to life. Great vapor, and flavor, and it's a very smooth vape.

The coils are 2.5id, 7 wrap @ .27 ohm, running between 55-65w. I needed a shoehorn to get them in there, but it was certainly worth the effort.

Hope this helps ya out

Thanks for the suggestion. I have some of that in the vape box. I'll give it a try on one of my future builds.

The Ti build I have going has been great. I just rewicked it this morning and it's as good as it was the other day when I first wrapped the coils...throwing vape out the air holes.

I think I need to pull the trigger on a second Aromamizer. I'm really digging the performance and quality of it.

On AngelCigs they have a Clone of the Aromamzier RTDA and its just as nice as the original for Quality, I have both the Authentic and the clone and besides the deck holes being slightly smaller (I drilled mine out) there isnt a difference. They are only $13 for the clone...

I too like horizontal coils better in the Aromamizer :) I see no advance whats so ever to vertical builds in the Aromamizer. Quite the opposite actually.
With vertical coils, there hard to wick :( and only have 2 wick ends are in the juice flow. With horizontal build wicking is easy and 4 wick ends are in the juice flow.
I do dual 24 gauge TI 6 wraps spaced, .1ish Excellent flavour! Fair cloud production :)

Good to know...thanks for the info. However, for me, I'm impressed enough with this tank that I plan on buying two more direct from Steam Crave. It's honestly the only piece of vape gear I own that I feel that way about, other than my custom made McFarland Mods box mod. When the time comes that I can get my grubby little hands on a DNA200 board, I plan on having another custom box made and have the board installed in it for a truly one of a kind DNA200.

Small inner diameters being using. I have 3mm Claptons now in mine and I was using 3.5mm ss and kanthal

Hello everyone. I thought I had a vaper's tongue when I got the Aromamizer v2, but my Tsunami RDA and Indestructible says other. I got best flavor from them.
My aromamizer v2 lacks of flavor, I've built so many different coils, different wire, different e-juice, and still no result.
Wires I've been using: Kanthal A1 24g, Ni80 24g,26g,28g, Ti also (Normal, Twisted, Parallel, both vertical and horizontal)
I usually sticks on 0.15-0.23 ohm, 60-80 watts (why? I love my warm cloud hehe)
Wicking problem? Everybody knows we are doing so much wicks since our first vape experience (yes, I fluffed my cotton). Using Kendo and other Japanese Organic Cotton.
Tried cleaning in warm tap water, alcohol, et cetera but still tastes like mist.
Any solution or build tips? Thanks!

I've been getting good results using 3mm, 8 wrap coils with SS430 in TC. Out of all my RTA's it gives me the best flavor. I just recently started experimenting with 2.5mm coils (same material and wraps) to try and cut down on juice consumption:D . She is a thirsty beast :giggle:. It's my favorite RTA, easy to build/wick, great build quality, and mine don't leak.

Cheers,
Steve

It seems that I've found the solution.. Tried SS430 8 wrap 3mm screwdriver TC mode and I was wondering why I'm not doing this before. Dense cloud, good flavor!
Thank you very much, Steve!
Well I'm getting my flavors back, now currently building alien 3x28 n80, wrapped 36 n80 and hoping for 0.16-0.17 results. A friend said I should try this build for Aromamizer.

24/34 n80

2x 26/36 n80

Twisted 2x 22 316 ( I did not like this build it landed at .09 and held heat too long scorching wicks)

Sometimes I loop in a velocity deck but only in drippers so that I can sploosh juice right into the wick
