Warning: full episode spoilers follow.
Well, that’s Season 3. “My Name Is Oliver Queen” was a pretty fitting end to this season, and not in a good way. Too often the show has felt aimless as it struggled to cook up an overarching conflict equal to that of Season 2. Even in these crucial final weeks, the sense of tension and danger of past seasons simply hasn’t been strong enough. Bearing that in mind, it’s really not surprising that the final showdown between Oliver Queen and Ra’s al Ghul was underwhelming.
This episode certainly started out on the right foot, with Ollie and Ra’s traveling to rain death on Starling City even as the rest of team Arrow lay unconscious and apparently dying in a cell. Not that the previous episode did anything to convince viewers that Team Arrow was in real danger, but there you have it. Their predicament still left them half a world away from the city that needed saving.
