Getting hands-on with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate helped shed some light on how a lot of the new systems and mechanics work, how the lighter tone reflects the new characters, and how Ubisoft has responded to the criticisms over 2014’s AC Unity. Two IGN editors played through a 20 minute demo that took place on the streets and rooftops of London, and came away with a pair of differing impressions.
I’ve played a lot of Assassin’s Creed over the past few years. Like, a lot. While I definitely had my fair share of criticism’s with last year’s Unity, I was really impressed with the way that Ubisoft handled the Syndicate reveal. The team was humble and honest about the stumbles of Unity, and did a great job of introducing the new setting, more playful tone, and new suite of mechanics that make your pair of assassins more mobile than ever.
