The aAlantis tank caused a hard short in my brothers $200+ BFM mechanical mod...
The BFM uses a hybrid top cap and the pin on the akantis protrudes a ltlle but it wasn't enough to prevent a hard short..My brother said his 26650 mod got so hot very quickly he had to drop it..venting MNKE 26650 batt blew both end caps off the tube and shot a hole in the ceiling barely missing his girlfriends head..the still venting battery was going around the room like a bottle rocket, burnt the carpet and set off smoke alarms before it fizzled out..lucky nobody was hurt but my brother will not use his mechs anymore..He got himself a IPV3, and although he still worries alot more now about battery safety he feels safer using a VW device with shorted atomiser protection..can't blame him for that..

I had two shorted battery situations and two runaway mods because of weak magnets. All this could have easily been prevented with better attention paid but it's really just being human. We generally learn from our mistakes and now my three mechs are in a bag. Lost my trust in them and could really never get over the potential disaster that was avoided. Electronic boxes now and much, much safer!

That's a shame and thanks for the heads up. You can't get around testing what ya build. Glad everyone's ok.

Good luck.

It happens. I've had three in 18 months vaping. Two stray atty leads to top cap and an int batt short that went craz hot in an unfired brand spankin' new M16. No good answer but vigilance regardless of the device. I wouldn't trust my toaster oven either.

Good luck all.

:)

I have heard several times that the Aspire Atlantis should not be used with a hybrid top cap for this very reason.
I have a Vapewell atty where the center contact pin is flush with the negative side also. Should not be used with a hybrid mod

After my brothers incident to be safe I pushed out the pin and filed down the 510 threads that made the pin protrude a lot more on my Atlantis, as seen in the pic..
I may retire my mechs, especially the ones with the hybrid top cap..I got an IPV3 that's much safer and like so much I just ordered another one..I'll polish up my mechs and store them in the boxes they came in for now...gotta stay safe,!
