"The pre-inquest conference was told the National Coronial Information System shows that between 2008 and 2014 there were 58 known suicide cases in Australia that were “potentially associated” with Champix. The number could be much higher."

They really need to take this shit off of the market.

When tobacco control and public health considers "only" one suicide every 1000 or so quit attempts "a win" people need to start being prosecuted for manslaughter and thrown in prison.

ANY family member of these suicide victims would rather have a relative that smokes but is ALIVE - 5150

That's no what's being asked for, the Aussies are just asking for the black-box warning that we get:

From your link in the message above:
There is a link between patients with psychiatric disorders becoming more prone to smoking, which suggests that the product does not necessarily exacerbate these symptoms as they could be related to previous conditions, or withdrawal from quitting tobacco products.
The implication here is that people are not killing themselves due to the psycho-kinetic effects of varenicline, but rather due to tobacco/nicotine withdrawal?

You know, if that's true, I heard there might be a way to quit smoking that allows a person to continue to self-titrate appropriate amounts of nicotine (and other tobacco alkaloids, if desired) via inhalation, just like they're used to with smoking, but it has 95-99% lower health risks than smoking. Perhaps more people should try that method?
