One of the biggest departures for Back 4 Blood compared to Left 4 Dead is the fact that its PVP now takes the form of a round based, competitive face-off between a team of Cleaners and a team of Ridden Mutations, to see who can survive the longest as the Cleaner team. We talked with Turtle Rock Co-Founder Chris Ashton, and Lead Designer Brandon Yanez, in order to find out how Turtle Rock came up with this new PVP mode, how the team balances PVP and PVE while using the same monsters in both, and what each of the nine Ridden Mutations can do in multiplayer.

Check out the video above for the interview, and in case you missed any of our month long coverage of Back 4 Blood, have a look at the videos below for a full breakdown of the biggest and most dangerous Ridden in the game, an introduction to the eight playable cleaners, a deep dive into the game director that choreographs each unique run of the game, and some deck building tips from the developers themselves.
