Battery Charger Recommendations

Alright, so I have been through about 4 or 5 Nitecore intellichargers. At least 3 of the 2 cell chargers and 2 of the 4 cell chargers. The spot where you plug in the wall cord on my 4 cell just went out. I'm tired of giving them my hard earned dollars. I am not rough on them and there is really no reason for all this. Anyone have any suggestions for better chargers? I will gladly spend a little more for a charger I won't have to replace for the next few years.

I can still use the 12v circular adapter with the car charger, I am thinking maybe I could buy a wall port that fits that and it would still work?

Look for chargers with butt plugs..... Like shown.....

Yes, my Nitecore has one of those and it still works. The DC 12v 1a input. That input still works. So I am going to order one. I have the car charger one.

Yeah that Nitecore Q2 is sweet..... It takes any battery ever made without any problems (easy-cheezy).

Well then I think I'd be dead. If they strike us with ICBM, chances are unless I start driving towards Canada immediately, I will be wiped out with the rest of the North East.

do any of these allow different charging?
he also said if you don't charge up to 100% batteries last longer.
plus, he said to store batteries at 50% charged.
is there a charger you can set to do this?

The Gyrfalcon line allows you to select between 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, and 1 amp per bay. All bays are individually adjustable.

ETA: you can also select different termination voltages... 1.5, 3.6, 4.2, 4.3, 4.35. Never charge LiIon calls over 4.2, but you could stop them at 3.6... A little over 50%

I charge at 1 amp... Balancing speed and battery life . However, when I have a battery that is slightly undercharged, I'll switch it to .25. I also charge my 14XXX, and 18350s at .5 amps.

I am liking my new Golisi S6. I now have over 20 chargers and all are still working. I think Nitecore is considered to be lower end. Their flashlights are no Surefire. This is not absolutely true but YMMV, I have had batteries charge at 2A for 500+ charge/discharge cycles. Depends on how good the battery is guess. You can theoretically charge at 1A per 1000MAH. Although 3A is asking for it in my experience. Most large batteries data sheet says 2A and up to 5A seldomly. I would not charge at 3 let alone 5. I just tried it abnd it all overheated with no shutdown. Luckily I was watching it. If that happens I would discard battery and charger but just avoid doing it in the first place. If battery is way under it should automatically switch to .1A if it is a good charger.

looking at chargers myself. thought i'd join all y'all's conversation.

i'm looking at the Zanflare C4 which is also an analyzer.
VERY thorough Zanflare C4 test results



it has some negatives.

• will not handle the longest 18650 and 26650 (however i read 21700s will fit snug )
• charging 4 batteries @ 1A each pushes the 12V wall wart past it's 1.5A rating (i won't be doing this)
• testing discharge/charge current is limited to .5 amps per battery.
  
• capacity test results read high (good enough to know if a cell is going south IMO)

as a charger it seems to have a lot going for it. will probably use 700mA. if i were to use it @ 4x1A i would use an old PSU (12V) to power/cool it. i don't plan on doing a lot of testing of cells, so the 500mA discharge limit doesn't bother me. the internal resistance being actually usable on this unit seems rather rare looking at many others i've seen tested. that is what is really selling me on this. think this is making it onto my letter to Santa.

The Miboxer C4-12 is my favorite. Plenty of room for all cells us vapers use regardless of length or diameter. Also has plenty of “juice” can charge all 4-bays at 3 amps but also offers a variety of slower charge rates to match your charging needs. Finally it monitors temperature while charging and will reduce charge rate if temps go too high. Great charger and doesn’t break the bank, good luck to all the vaper currently charger shopping.

I just leave my Nitecore 4-bay charger plugged in. When not in use it appears to go to sleep. Then, when I have batteries to charge, I just slip 'em in. No messing-about with having to drag it out, plug it in, put it back away when done.

my skyrc 3000 allows me to charge at .'7 amps n i only charge to 4.o or 4.1
in theory, the former will triple life span n the latter will double it.
if this is true, my charger will eventually pay for itself.

also, it's kinda fun testing batteries once in a while.

unless money is a problem, only get chargers that allow this .
i got mine on sale for $90 n i bet it outlasts the cheap ones.

they are cheap. which is why some have no problem shoving 2+ amps into them. lower life span, but more convenient. one thing about quick charging is you can monitor them more easily versus slow charging. all about trade offs.

i read that electric car batteries will basically last almost forever if you charge them up to 80%, and discharge them to no less than 40%. think they were speaking LiFePO4.

i have 18 batteries but lately i'm only running 4 mods/day, so i have a ton of batteries
in the lineup.
this is only a good idea if you don't fully charge.
as i understand it, letting them sit around at 4.2 hurts them.
i'm having fun studying batteries.

This is true. If they're not going to be used for a good while, discharge them to 3.2-3.4 volts or so.

Been through LUC V4 and V6 Nitrecore I8 and now BLU6. Out of these 4 im the most happy with BLU6 Just a small recommandation

only thing I’ll miss is usb/power bank and the refresh of Ni-mh from the xtar dragon, but like the adjustability on this ...now if gyrfalcon did all that would be perfect blend

still do one thing and do it well ...more things something has more chance to go wrong haha

You guys have definitely given me something to think about - still love my Gilosi S6, but am a little worried with all the shit Mooch was talking about the S4 recall and problems with the Gilosi documentation

it’s very easy to use ...haven’t even bothered with fully manual mode, detects Ni-mh and Li-ion sets the voltage to the correct cut off for each, just have to press the buttons (led light bit) to set charge rate and you’re away ...if you power off and plug back in it does default back to 1A but easy enough to change back ...prefer charging at 0.5A for the most part especially with 8 bays plenty of cells always ready

like the wide bays a lot almost no chance of springs snapping back now like in the VC4 middle 2 bays which are a nightmare

still ask me again in 6 months if you’re still on the fence need to use it plenty, but does what it say on the tin I like it a lot so far

I have a Efest Luc v4 which I bought used off Letgo for $7. It was used when I bought it although I can not say how used it was previous to my purchasing it. It was in nice condition even though very dusty. Well my point is it is an excellent charger that handles my 20700's, tightly. You need to be carefull when removing so not to damage the wrap. I suspect a 21700 may be a bit too big but idk for sure. It has been a very good charger. I think retail is about $20. I recomend the charger enthusiastically. It blows my previous charger out of the water ( an intelacharger made by Wismec I believe). That is my experience and opinion. Maybe it will help.
P.s. I have a nib Golisi s4 for sale if you are interested. I have had it put up as a back up for two years now.

I use the Opus BT-C3100 200,300,500,750,1000,1500*,2000* charge rate (*outer 2 bays only)

No complaints with it in the past 2 years... it replaced my no frill (slow) Nitecore D2/D4 due to 21700 use. I do wish it had a usb outlet, save on having to utilize a plug for my phone charger lol

8 bays is also appealing, though I rarely need more than 3 at a time these days

I just leave the micro USB cable plugged in so the port on the charger doesn't wear out. The sliding brackets are made out of thicker metal so they don't get deformed over time. They all slide smoothly, and the springs have the right pressure. Compared to most other chargers, the contacts are better designed. In addition, the bays are a tad longer compared to other 21700 compatible chargers, which makes removing 27100s easier and more comfortable to do, and, it is much better than my SkyRC MC3000 in this regard (pic below), despite that one set me back 95.75 Euros ex shipping from www.nkon.nl (trusted vendor according to Mooch). The UMS4 stays cool to the touch while charging. It charges the batteries accurately to 4.20V. The charging speed is adjustable in smaller steps (100mA) so it enables me to more accurately select what I think is the best tradeoff between the charging speed and aging of the batteries. I still own both my Intellicharger D4 (2016 model) and my Intellicharger NEW i4. They all still work perfect, and that is despite I am a high wattage mech user, I vape a lot so I charge batteries frequently.
