So I've been vaping on my new set up. OG Republic with the lemo, my question is about the battery life.

Ohms are fine, .9
Batteries are new
Charger is new

My question is do 18650 batteries stay at a certain voltage for a while more than others while in use? Meaning will it stay at 3.8v longer than 4.2?

I ask because I took a battery fresh off the charger, went to the store, vaped in the car for the 10 minutes each way, came home, vaped on the couch for maybe 45, went to charge the battery because I was going to bed and it was already at 3.7-8ish volts? It seemed to go down for sucha not so long time.

What gives?

All batteries will drop from the 4.2V rather quick. However, after that, a good battery holds there longer than a cheaper. Therefore, I'm using Sony VCT4/5 in all my devices. On my mech mods, it's depending on the coil build, which one I'm using.

I use steam engine that's the thing. You should last longer (according to other mods) and steam engine.

I'm thinking it could be the connections? I didn't clean the bottom or top pins upon receiving the mod.

Could it be it needs a clean? If so, what should I clean the connections with?

According to your original post, you used the battery for 55 Minutes, and still have a charge of 3.7V. Nothing wrong with that. You can discharge the batteries down to 3.2V, but no further. Otherwise, you'd damage the battery.

Ah I gotcha. I always thought 3.7v than charge? No?

The battery has a "nominal voltage" of 3.6V-3.7V. This is the voltage where it has the bulk of its charge. If you stop using it at anything over 3.5V or so you could be missing out on a lot of vaping time that the battery could give you.

These batteries can be run down to 3.2V, even lower, without damage. For some batteries there might, maybe, perhaps be a difference in how long they will last before needing to be replaced if you stop at above 3.2V. But you have to balance that against the daily inconvenience of having to charge them earlier.

Very good points, thank you! So I'm guessing using the AW IMR 18650 (which I believe are pretty great batteries) would have no issue running to 3.3 or even 3.2
