Universal restarted development on its long-awaited Battlestar Galactica film earlier this year, and now it looks like the project may have found a director.
According to Deadline, Francis Lawrence—the director behind the final three Hunger Games films—is currently in talks to helm the project. Additionally, the outlet has heard that Westworld writer Lisa Joy is on board to write the script.
Universal's new Battlestar Galactica movie is being produced by Fifty Shades of Grey's Michael De Luca, as well as Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark of Bluegrass Films. Brian Singer was originally set to direct the film when Syfy's TV series was coming to a close in 2009, but after he left the project the studio decided to take the movie in a different direction with a completely new production crew.
