Titan action, vampire mysteries, and giant mushrooms are just some of what you can expect this winter 2022 anime season. A new year and new anime to check out for the Winter like the strangely wild Sabikui Bisco, futuristic Tokyo 24th Ward, and the visually beautiful Akebi's Sailor Uniform. We're also seeing the return of one of the most popular anime series of the last decade with Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2. Across Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Netflix, as well as others, there are a lot of places to enjoy anime at the moment.

Check out some of our favorite picks in the video above or the slideshow gallery below, followed by the full list of new Winter season 2022 anime in the U.S. and their respective streaming platforms. Anime listed are available now unless otherwise stated.

Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 (Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV, Hulu)

Attack on Titan is finally back since getting a surprise part 2 announcement in March of last year! You probably knew this already since the premiere of part 2 crashed the Crunchyroll site due to the high traffic of people coming through. The finale of one of the most popular anime series of the last decade is almost here so now is a great time to get caught up if you are interested in the series. Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 is now available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV, and Hulu.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Part 2 (Funimation, Hulu)

Another returning anime is How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom with part 2 of their season. The series follows Kazuya Souma, a student who is summoned into another world to save a kingdom. As he begins to set plans to do so, he becomes the king almost immediately. Souma isn’t much of a fighter who is supposed to be a “hero” of this fantasy world, but he chooses to save the kingdom in a different way using his modern day knowledge. It’s a different take compared to all the action oriented isekai we’re used to. How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom is available on Funimation and Hulu.

The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest (Crunchyroll, VRV)

Speaking of isekai, we have another one this season, The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest. This series follows a powerful sage who brings about his own reincarnation to become even stronger. Thousands of years later, the sage is reborn as Matthias and learns that the current world’s skill of magic has grown weaker. Unlike most popular isekai where the protagonists are teleported from the modern world to a fantasy world, this series sees Matthias portal into the future. For someone that’s pretty much the strongest person in the world, it’ll be interesting to see how he balances his growing fame and responsibilities with his longtime goal of gaining strength. The series is available on Crunchyroll and VRV.

My Dress-Up Darling (Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV)

If you’re into slice of life with some romance, My Dress-Up Darling is an anime for you this winter season! The series follows Gojo, a student who loves Hina dolls and learned how to make them through his grandfather. Being so focused on his craft, Gojo didn't really have any friends until he met a classmate who appreciated his art and skill at making clothes. We can expect tons of shenanigans between this solitary student and the popular social otaku as the season goes on. Not to mention, CloverWorks is behind this series so you can expect some top-notch quality animation. My Dress-Up Darling is available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, and VRV.

Akebi's Sailor Uniform (Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV)

There’s another visually beautiful slice of life anime this season in Akebi’s Sailor Uniform. The series follows Akebi, a young girl that dreams of wearing a school sailor uniform. She finds out that her new school doesn’t use those uniforms anymore but is allowed to wear it anyway. This is obviously going to lead into some hilarious antics as the series progresses. CloverWorks is the animation studio behind Akebi’s Sailor Uniform as well, so we can expect some amazing visuals like Wonder Egg Priority and Horimiya. Akebi’s Sailor Uniform is available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, and VRV.

Sabikui Bisco (Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV)

One of the more intriguing shonen anime this winter season is Sabikui Bisco. The series follows Bisco, a wanted criminal who uses a bow and arrows to sprout gigantic mushrooms wherever he shoots. Yup! This anime gets weird! It’s still pretty early in the season but we’ve already seen giant crabs, a snail plane, and hippos with mounted guns in this post-apocalyptic Japan. We’re looking forward to what else this crazy adventure has to offer this season. Sabikui Bisco is available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, and VRV.

Tokyo 24th Ward (Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV)

Tokyo 24th Ward is an original anime series by CloverWorks this season. CloverWorks has been busy with this being the third anime we’ve mentioned from them so far. The series follows three friends who lived through a life-changing event in the 24th Ward, a man-made island in Tokyo Bay. Years later, they reunite and find themselves mysteriously connected by a warning of a future incident to come. The series gives off some Minority Report vibes with our protagonists working together to prevent a future disaster. It’ll be interesting to see how the season unfolds as they learn more about this mysterious warning. Tokyo 24th Ward is available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, and VRV.

Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3 (HIDIVE)

Teasing Master Takagi-san is a wholesome series about young love and season 3 drops this winter season. The series follows Takagi and Nishikata who both tease each other constantly. Nishikata is annoyed by the teasing so much that he sees it as a competition whereas Takagi seems to have other reasons for why she does it. The anime mainly focuses on the pair but it’s also been fun seeing the reactions of the people around them. If you’re looking to see what happens next for them, you can check out Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 3 on HIDIVE.

The Orbital Children (Netflix)

The Orbital Children is a new anime dropping this winter season. The series takes place in the year 2045 and follows a group of kids, some born from the moon and Earth, who end up stranded in a space station hotel after an unfortunate accident. The director of The Orbital Children, Mitsuo Iso, has worked on animation for The End of Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell movies. Based on what we’ve seen from the promotional trailers, this anime movie looks like it will deliver some stunning visuals. The Orbital Children premieres January 28 on Netflix.

The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 (Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV, Hulu)

The Case Study of Vanitas is back with part 2 of its first season. It follows Noé, a vampire looking for the mythical Book of Vanitas that could bring death to the entire vampire race. Noé meets a human named Vanitas who appears to have the book but instead uses it to cure an enraged vampire. The two end up working together and are on a surprising mission in part 2 this season. The Case Study of Vanitas is one of IGN’s Best Anime 2021 nominees so it’s worth checking out if you haven’t yet. The series is now available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV, and Hulu.
