Are you sure your coils are made for TC? That sounds a little high for a Ni200 coil. If you have a Kanthal coil you'll need to run the mod in power (variable wattage) mode.

is their anyway I can tell if its a "kanthal" coil or not?

I also had a 0.2 that the booklet said to only run in TC mode, Idk if the same applies to the 0.5 that also came with it.

Ok, that tells me right there that you have a kanthal coil. the .2 is a Ni200 TC coil. I don't have an EVic VT, but the manual should tell you how to get out of TC mode and into power mode, or you could just use the other coil for now.

If you got the kit, generally the coils that come with it are a Ni200 coil (that's the 0.2) and a Ti coil (that's 0.4). You would use them on the appropriate settings. Neither of those coils should be used in power mode!

I seem to remember that manual is pretty self explanatory with that kit!

yeah but the manual says nothing about the .4 (or .5? whichever it is). it only specifies that the .2 shouldn't be used in power mode.

Usually a coil will have either Ni200 or Ti100 stamped or printed on the side of it, if kanthal it just has resistance and recommended wattage range. If you truly have a .5 ohm coil I would think it's kanthal.

The coil heads with the black band are Kanthal. The blue band, NI200. And the red band, titanium.

Don't worry about premature wear. They're 2 bucks apiece.
Frankly the coils in your tank kind of require use. They don't do well when allowed to just sit. The wicking material is not cotton, it's that other stuff. And it swells up when allowed to sit unused wet.

Use your tank. Use it with wild abandon.
I needed a bib with mine.....! But it was very pretty:p

Never a leak with either of mine. I kinda liked the NI200 head. My problem was 70% with the wicking material
and 30% with the hole size on the coil heads.
I bought the rebuildables (OCC) but got lazy...
I bought the rebuildables also - and got lazy!

They still didn't wick that well imo.

Really? :(
Didja open up the juice control? annnd... Are you sure it remained open while screwing the base/head assy to the tank?
I noticed if I opened it up, it would conveniently re-close itself as I screwed the base back on. o_O
Might give it another go today, because I haven't touched it in months. It leaked alarmingly, though, every time I used it!

the problem I was having was the 0.2 was for NI mode and the 0.4 was for TI mode and I was using it in NI mode. Now that I switched it to the TI it stopped the burning taste.

Mine does leak but its pretty rare and only a little, particularly if im using it in my all black car with no ac on a sunny day.

I think the 0.2 had a better hit to it but I cant seem to find any store that carries them :/

one more quick question for you ladies and gents,
I just picked up a pack of the 0.5 black ringed coils, that run in power mode (on 0.5 ohms printed on side no ti or ni), I cant find anything on the recommended wattage to run it with can someone give me an idea?

Start low, and work your way up, you'll find your sweet spot. I run mine between 20-30 watts. YMMV
