Big sub ohm vs. little sub ohm

Anyone who is familiar with ohms law knows there are two very drastically different ways to get to low ohms, big or little.
I just built an 1.5mm id, 26ga nichrome80, 6wrap, dual coil on my orchid. It measures .2ohms.
I have also built a 3mm id, 22ga kanthal, 6wraps, dual coil on my clt. It measures .2ohms.

There is a huge difference here in terms of wire thickness and the way the coil heats up and cools down.
Its interesting how these coils are vastly different, but supposedly draw the same amperage, and should be considered equal for battery safety reasons.

Im just thinking out loud, but Im sure others have had this same thought.

That's one of the advantages of nichrome, you can squeeze subohm coils into a smaller space :D Especially handy for smaller atomizers and (presumably) in rta's as well. i ordered 250ft of 36g nichrome 80 from twistedmesses.com, for use in my claptons. Been having lots of fun with it

For a similar reason, I don't see the hipe about G-Plat wire. (I build a few with G-Plat.) I can have similar effects with Kanthal A1. It just depends on how you build your coil.

G-plat has been confirmed a scam many times over at this point. There's some good information about what it's actually made from/for and its actual cost out there that is enough to convince most people to never buy it or stop buying it if they already use it

I never jumped on the macro coil bandwagon. I don't really like 22g and thicker wire either.
Both for the same reasons. I like the coil to heat up and cool down fast.

I seem to prefer 26g Kanthal and Nichrome micro coils in the .25 to .35 ohm range. I only
use mechanicals though, so that's a self limiting factor. Regulation probably would give me
a wider range of coil types to enjoy, but I'm not jumping on that bandwagon yet either.

If you use a mech, big thick coils heat up slow. Little small coils give much more responsive performance and dont suffer so much when the battery gets low.
I resisted the pull of regulated power for a long time. When your ready, hop on, you wont be disappointed. Every coil works, its amazing.

I always build Clapton's with nich. If I don't the ramp up is just tooooo long.

I believe the coil diameter has a big impact on flavor as well, I recall trying all different diameters at the same resistance and there was a noticeable difference to me in the concentration of flavor.

There is a balance though, you cant really make effective use of a 1/16 diameter coil if you are running at very low sub ohm resistance (under .6ohm) since the cotton is too thin to remain saturated at those temperatures, and vice versa, large diameter coils at higher resistances (.6-1ohm) I found mutes the flavor IMO.

More surface, more vapor. More vapor, more flavor.

Regarding 1/16 ID coils, check out the "dragon coil". It's a good coil for flavor, especially with sweeter juice.
