So I have been DIYing for a few months now. I got into it to save myself money, because the amount of liquid I was going through was actually MORE expensive than my smoking habit was. :/

Anyways, I more recently started selling my juice to friends. I have so far been only selling in 15mL glass dropper bottles that I recycled and cleaned from juice that I bought before DIYing. I only have a limited stock of them, so I am online about to order some bottles online..

Now here is my dilemma: I have a small amount of capital and of course, starting out business is slow. I want to be viewed as a quality vendor when I start getting some good business, but I want to stretch my capital investments as far as possible without sacrificing quality. I want to get glass bottles, but at a dollar a piece they really add up in price. I have heard about plastic "leaching" into juice and I am worried. My current customers have no concerns, but I don't want to save money at their expense.

Mount Baker uses plastic, and so do several other vendors. I have heard PET is better than LDPE. But I know glass trumps plastic hands down.

I plan on going to glass once things start moving, that is without a doubt. But for now, what are my best options?

By the way... my sister suggested buying a dozen or so glass bottles (in addition to plastics) and offering a choice. Sounds like a viable plan.. Thoughts?

Id give people a choice for all juices but ones with high acid levels or cinnamons any of em that could break down plastic.
I usually like plastic bottles when I'm out and about but i like glass for the long term storage of my nic base/flavor bases

I think I am going to offer 10mL plastic bottles for 5$ and glass 15mL bottles for 10$. I might offer a discount for recycling glass bottles too.

Thanks for the input!

http://packagingoptionsdirect.com/ This is where I get all my glass bottles and caps. GREAT prices. Takes about a week for me to get them, usually, but it's worth it.
Awesome prices for sure! Got any coupon codes? The dripper caps are a little pricey there, I might order through WizardLabs or Heartland Vapes for those. There has to be a site with all the flavors and containers I need somewhere...

In any case, thanks for a great link! :)

Oops I was looking at a different site when I complained about dropper cap prices. Those are excellent too!

Ugh the prices are great but they charge 10$ for ordering less than 50$ worth of product. And my shipping came out to 38$ for 50 bottles :(

Ok so I picked up a suggestion from another member here for a company called glassbottleoutlet.com I ordered 4 30 ml black bottles with dripper and 4 15 ml silver bottles with dripper for less than 4 buck each size , 10 and change shipped they have multiple colors and options available and around .84 cents a bottle which for me is awesome . Anyways take a look and see how you like them , mine will be delivered this week sometime and I will update on the quality and build of the bottles , the non clear options are my biggest selling point , you can't see how much juice is in bottle but keep the light from affecting your nic that way in my opinion .

I don't recall ever paying THAT much for shipping. WOW!! If you sign up for their newsletter, you'll get frequent shipping coupons. Sorry about that, I've just never had that experience. Bummer.

I will check out the email list today. The 38 was just an estimate in the cart view, but it was late so I didn't feel like registering to find out euat other options there were. I will try again later today!

Thanks again!

I go through a vendor called Lucky Viola on ebay for plastic, most people I deal with seem to like the bottles and there are nice tamper - evident caps. But ECX just dropped some glass bottles at killer prices on 15 and 30 sizes...would be all over those but 50 ml is my most popular size.

What is ECX? I am guessing ecig express?
Heartland has good deals on glass bottles but not the cheapest flavors around. WizardLabs has good flavor prices and bad bottle prices. Go figure!

You should be fine with either LDPE plastic or PET plastic containers, I like ldpe because it isn't as rigid and better for later reuse. Plastic is far cheaper of an option and the tops work a million times better than any glass dropper I have used (The 120ml work ok but thats more than most people want to buy at once.) Coming from a lab that used to think glass is premium we have seen both our employees and customers beg for the switch to plastic, because it is so much easier to work with. No one wants to drip a glass bottle while they drive (i would hope anyways.).

Thanks for your input! I ended up grabbing some of these:

It was only 19$ for 100. If this business starts working out I will upgrade to glass because I like the aesthetic appeal. And I want to be viewed as quality. But for now they work! Next is business cards.. :)

Thanks for all the help everyone!

I don't like PET because they're hard to squeeze, but I like the tear-away caps for an easy tamper-resistant solution, especially if you're like me and doing small volume by hand and don't have time/equipment to mess with shrink-wrapping.

I don't like the fact that they are hard to squeeze, but I do like the transparency and the thin drippers. The few customers I have like to see the color of the liquid. The tamper-resistant tops are awesome too. They give the product an extra level of professionalism.

I still plan on upgrading eventually. But for now they will work. If I get complaints, I saved enough that I can order some HDPE!

Thanks for the 2 cents :)

I like to steep things in plastic then transfer them to glass when I sell bottles to my small contingent of vaping buddies. They pretty much have their choices down solid so I can mix well ahead of time thankfully. As far as those amber bottles the only issue I have is that they take forever to develop any level of steep whereas the plastic is much quicker, obviously due to light being able to get to the liquid easier. Not that I steep in sunlight but what little light does get to my steep shelf gets in the plastic better. I use the thicker almost cloudy looking plastic bottles to steep with whichever LDPE or PDF or OCD or whatever those fuckers are lol..

Lol...I'm the same way for the juice I make for myself. Snooty fuckin friends are the ones that want it steeped ha. But that's cool then I can make giant batches well in advance so its all good :)

And not to mention because of them I DIY for free, minus my time invested which I don't mind, so I can handle steeping out a lil juice for em!

Ain't it funny. Anyone can buy the same flavors to DIY as they make 19.95 juice for. But I don't eat Caviar.
