All of my all time favorite atties are no longer made. In the process of trying to continually push the envelope, lots of these manufacturers seem to have forgotten about the strides they've already made. It's always disappointing when a company stops making an atty that has sort of a "signature" vape... ...a vape that only it can provide, to make a v2 that's almost nothing like it. Lost, broke, or wore out that favorite atty you bought last year and still want your ideal, delicately tuned and balanced vape? Too bad - its become "obsolete."
One trend I see that really bugs me is the way one company will make a certain type of atty with such and such features, it'll become popular, and then every other company will drop a distinguished, successful, and widely-cherished namesake design as they scramble to mimic those features or work them into the existing platform. It's sideways innovation. All they're doing is tossing darts. They'll take a design and make it better at some things, but worse at the things it known for being best at. They make it seem like the old version no longer has value.
Why put an end to a good thing? The problem with their approach is that the older one is irreplaceable. Its features are unique to it. I bet if they still sold their older versions, there would still be people who prefer them to the new version.
And that's because the new version isn't a new version - it is oftentimes a completely different atty with completely different and potentially deal-breaking quirks.
I've always enjoyed the CLT line. Even the v3 isn't bad, though the v2 plus is my favorite. The combination of wide cyclops and side airflow is perfect. It has that old-school cloud-chasing atty vape. The vapor production is nearly as good as the fancy new ultra-cloud-chuckers, but the draw is more reasonable and flavor/density are better. The builds you do for it are just different. If I still had one, it would still be one of my main workhorses.
Now you've got me thinking about buying a clone of it. Infinite could have that money if they wanted it... ...Indulgence too. I'd buy a brand-new, authentic CLT v2+ and Mutation X v3 in a heartbeat if they still made them. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to buy the clones. But hey, if they want to let their competition take money that they could be making, that's there prerogative.
