Full spoilers for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine season finale follow.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine accomplished a lot in its Season 2 finale, moving several stories forward and hitting some genuinely emotional notes, while maintaining its usual sense of absurdity. Some of the show's funniest moments have come when these characters are pitted against one another, but in "Johnny and Dora", the squad was united. Even the silly opening about saying goodbye to a beloved old candy machine fit this theme.
Jake and Amy have been flirt-fighting since the series began, and have come close to expressing their feelings for one another on more than one occasion. In the last few episodes, we've seen that Jake is ready to tell Amy the truth about his feelings, but holding back since she announced she didn't want to date cops anymore. Of course, Jake is Jake, so his attempts to keep things professional end up making Amy feel that he's mad at her. Using several terrible accents to hide behind, he does admit he wanted to ask her out.
