Just a day before contenders for 2022 Oscars are announced, the Razzies has revealed its nominees for worst movies and film performances of 2021. Bruce Willis in particular is being roasted this year, with the Razzies dedicating an entire category to his eight worst film performances in the past year. Yes, you read that right. Bruce Willis starred in more movies than most actors get in a decade, including low-budget action flicks like American Siege, Apex, and Midnight in the Switchgrass.
At the top (or maybe bottom) of the pack is Netflix's Diana, the live stage musical filmed for streaming audiences, with nine nominations, including for worst picture, actor, and actress. The Guardian called it "a musical mess to rival Cats" and "the year's most hysterically awful hate-watch" for its depiction of the late royal family princess. It's similarly nominated for worst director, supporting actor, and supporting actress.
Netflix also takes second place in total nominations for The Woman in the Window, the psychological thriller starring Amy Adams, taking home five nominations, including for worst picture. Ironically, it boasts one of the more bankable casts in Razzie history, including Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Julianne Moore.
Following the pack is Karen, the dark-comedy thriller about a racist white woman stalking a young black couple living in the surburbs. You might remember it from the too-bad-to-be-real trailer that went semi-viral last year. Richard Roeper of Ebert and Roeper fame called it an "extended SNL parody of a Jordan Peele film."
Both Space Jam: A New Legacy and Dear Evan Hansen also received four nominations, including for worst picture, while Mark Wahlberg's Infinite and Renny Harlin's The Misfits close out with three nominations a piece.
