Build tips?

Can someone shine some light on why i cant get the flavour i want out of my tsunami? I just camt get it to compete with my cleito. Ive tried tons of different builds, some twisted 28g kanthal is the best ive been able to get.

I certainly can't help you, that is one of the worst flavor attys I own. Out of about 50 RDA's, it's at the bottom of the list.

Ah exactly what i didnt want to hear! Ahah. I was hoping it was simply my build quality or something like that. it was awsome my first day using it, and now i cant seem to duplicate my first build in it! Still chucks some pretty big clouds though!

Describe an actual build that is close to the flavor you want..... need all build and mod setting details.
Maybe even some examples of failed builds.

Doesn't do you any good for us to suggest builds you have already tried.

The Tsunami is a big chamber RDA, to get get the max out of it get some big ass Claptons and dial your wattage up, even more so with a Tsunami24.

Fair enough! I have yet to put claptons in it! I think i have myself convinced its a wicking thing. Just have to use more trial and error. Ive tried going back to the basics with a simple spaced 7 wrap on ss316l, ive tried going fancy like stated above with the twisted kantal and twisted ss. I cant seem to find this sweet spot! Ive tried builds to run it at pretty much every different wattage range with little to no improvment. Most of the time going backwards

What kind of vape do you like.. maybe we can start there?

Fact Is you have a cloud blowing atty.... and you want to build for flavor..... do able yes.

But we need a starting point for suggesting builds.

Heck the solution to your issue could be as simple as going to a tip with a smaller bore.
Or getting the coil placement in relation to air flow right. Could be you just need to adjust wicking style or coil id.

Hmmm.... Ive been satisfied with the amount of vapour im getting. I wouldnt even complain about a little less. I like a nice warm vape. Ive tried multiple drip tips and ive never even thought about that effecting my flavour.... Ill have to give that another go. Im usually looking for the feel of the hit, hell i vape flavourless vg half the time. I just figgured the flavour out of any dripper would still be decent. I have a pretty good idea of what my juice should taste like and im having a hard time getting anywhere close.... I deffinatly like to use stainless still in all my other attys

Tsunami is actually a great RDA one of my favorites easily. I think it just doesn't suit some people's vape style. it's made for huge builds. With that said 1st off your cotton in the pic is dry and blocking the air channels. you are gonna want to move hte cotton out of the way a bit. 2ndly make bigger coils that are not spaced out. Make a large contact coil with some fancy wire like fused claptons or aliens. 3rd adjust the coils lower so they sit right above the airflow. Your coils look a bit high

Ok so i should get better flavour moving my coils lower? And fair enough about the wicking im still getting used to the deck. And its my first dripper and yeah for sure i noticed my wick was dry right after i took the picture ahah! Maybe im just putting my expectations to high, as i get great flavour off my crown and cleito

if built right. the tsunami should kick the balls out of the crown and clieto lol

That was my original thought! Back to the drawing board with some new coils! See if lowering them any helps... And i couldnt figure out for the life of me why the exact same build ive been using for months doesnt have any flavour in the tsunami

tsunami has a bigger chamber. flavor is a mixture of air and vapor production. if you take a good mixture and move it into an atty that has more air, then your vapor production isn't enough

you'll still get a lot of vapor but you have more air in the mixture so less flavor density if that makes sense

Wouldn't call the Tsunami the best RDA ever but it can play with the big boys if build properly and can blow the socks off quite a few RTAs in flavor too.
Because of it's big chamber and the kinds of builds it requires sirRichard loves it and honda hates it.

That's because your coils have a high mass but not high enough surface area.
Like I've said Claptons of the big ass variety

You need not only a lot of vapor, you need the vapor to be dense to get a lot of flavor out of it.

Yeah, not a huge fan of the Tsunami but I still use it occassionally at home. I hate that the airflow tubes are too big and too far apart. The wick gets crammed into the corner, leaving a huge open area for juice to slosh around and leak out. That's why I like the Velocity, same style deck but the ends of the wick form a nice little pocket where you can just pour your juice in without worrying if it will leak. They seem to have fixed most of the design flaws with the newer Tsunami though.

Claptons or fused claptons work well for me. 6-8 wraps, 3mm id...whatever I can fit in there and fill up as much space as possible.

I find spaced coils work for me best. I dunno but I have never been a fan of contact coils. I don't think juice can get through enough if the coil is tight, thats why I think Clapton coils work so good, especially if they are minutely spaced. Every wrap is a juice channel so squeezing the coil tight I think defeats the purpose. I get great results out of spaced coils, I do think spaced coils last longer then microcoils. Twisted 28 is a fav build of mine but since I DIY my juice I can vape claptons to no end and not be concerned with juice consumption but have a spaced twisted 28 I take to work cause I like how it vapes.

Clapton wire is pretty easy to make if you have a drill. Wire is pretty cheap, too. Especially compared to coils. There are some good coil makers here on the forum, too. Check out the build threads.

And yeah for sure i do like my twisted kanthal... Maybe ill try moving them a little lower and a smaller bore drip tip. I think i found the build i was looking for! I just squeezed some dual 18 wrap ss316 into it and moved everything lower, as well as spent a little more time on my wicking. And i have to say my what a difference. Thanks for all the advice! I love this forum
