A three month old chicken named Cicely is about to be fitted with a US$2,500 3D printed prosthetic limb, Reuters reports.
Owner Andrea Martin was given a choice to either fit Cicely with a prosthetic limb or euthanase her after she was born lame due to a torn tendon in her right leg.

Dr. Emi Knafo will remove Cicely’s right leg his Wednesday and will then run a CT-scan on the left limb to be used for a 3D printed prosthetic. The chicken will be fitted with the prosthetic in two weeks time.
Martin, who runs a Massachusetts-based farm that specializes in chicken rehabilitation, has previously spent US$3,000 on a hysterectomy for a hen.
