Choder's thoughts on the Asmodus Zesthia

THIS IS NOT A REVIEW, JUST MY EXPERIENCE.

There have been a lot of other professional reviews of this product and while I am not here to agree or rebut any of those opinions, I am just here to share with you my experience.

My Asmodus Zesthia was purchased via EightVape.com on February 11, 2018, fulfilled on the 12th, and received on the 15th. Delivery was quicker than I expected!


All the typical extras goodies

Not shown is the extra glass and hex key for the posts deck, it is however shown above.
NOTE: The included Oni coils are packaged as Ni80 Fused Clapton 0.37 Ω (26/40); however the box details them as just 0.3 Ω.


Here is the Zesthia next to my other 2 BLACK tanks

• Serpent SMM (3.7 mL) on Vaporesso Revenger X
• Asmodus Zesthia (4.5 mL)
• Vaporesso NRG (5.0 mL) <= this one has juice in it.

Please also note that the tank has a gentle knurling at the top base cap as well as around the air flow control (AFC) band. Although the fill cap doesn’t have any real patterning, its thickness provides adequate gripping.


The Zesthia comes with a wide bore Delrin 810 drip tip that’s conically funneled compared to the NRG. The spigot end has a couple green O-rings to give a nice snug fit. It’s pretty tight but easily removable while twisting. I’ve tried to put an 810 adapter (from the NRG, the only one I had) but it doesn’t fit snug to the base. *shrug*

Personally I really like the thickness of rounded vape tip.

The threading on the top cap is located on the inside protruding end of the chimney, or top base ring, while the outer edge has a black O-ring. It is a little finicky when capping it back but you can use the reverse threading method. Honestly I prefer the slide juice hole design, that way you don’t have to mess with aligning the threads or air pressure build up in the tank.

Love the build deck on this one; they call it the double hotdog but it’s the same concept as the Serpent SMM. It basically makes it easier to insert your coils. The hex screws are nice and beefy and coil rest spacing’s are adequately positioned for a solid secured clamp.



One thing I really like about this tank, compared to the Serpent SMM, is that there is a support edge where the AFC band rests on. This allows for easy adjustment without having to loosen the tank.



Threw on a 0.6 Ω kanthal Comp Wire Fused Clapton (24/32) - not the coils that came in the box



For wicking I used about 2-3 cm of Japanese cotton. It’s a personal thing but I tend to peel the skins on both sides of the cotton then stretch it out into a sheet then roll it up.


For my initial build, I used some of this Seven Seas Forbidden Fruit e-juice. I snipped the cotton just outside the limits of the tank, then tucked the ends into the wick holes before priming.



Juice flow hole are not adjustable! The chimney section just has two cut outs for juice flow that opens up to the bottom of the wick wells. No matter what position you have the deck and body section at, when it tightens; it’ll allow a constant flow to the wick ends.



It’s also great to know exactly how much juice you have left. There is no juice basin so the level of juice you see is what you have. The serpent has a bottom reserve that’s below the limits of the glass.

I don’t know why but I decided to fetch the help of two bendy straws that I directed into each of the AFC’s perpendicularly and blew a constant breath, comparable to a draw id take.

I don’t know why but I was hoping to see a vortex but figured it be turbulent. The resulting vape stack just went straight up. The mist was nice and thick.

My Vaporesso Revenger X smart mode reads the build at 0.5 Ω and suggests wattage of 35; however I have been turning it down to around 30W with a 25% AFC restriction. Like most tanks there isn’t any whistling unless a heavy draw.

Key Observations:

• Initial capping after a fill was a little difficult since the threading was in the inner chimney piece, I wanted to make sure it was aligned and sealed before flipping a burp out of it.
• When I initially filled the tank I did experience leakage through the AFC holes. I used the burp method since that’s what I’m used to doing with the Serpent SMM, but it still leaked. I just cleaned it up. It wasn’t a whole lot, since then it has been better.
• After the tank depleted, I filled it up with TomorrowVapes Watermelon juice without re-wicking. Vape sessions thereafter started to get a little parched. It wasn’t a burnt cotton taste but rather a lingering coarser exhale; it just wasn’t clean and smooth. When I finally decided to rewick it is when I discovered the culprit. Dirty coils. Probably built up when I was firing it in high watts to observe the capillarity for a dry hit.

• Tasted much better with clean coils – so clean them regularly!

• I did also notice that as I vaped the drip tip would pick up condensate.

• Pulling the drip tip I notice some ejuice splatter

• Vapor does also condensate in the AFC chamber from time to time

Some bubbles in action to close my thoughts out.

Not sure why there was one bubble with vapor in it.


Overall I really like this tank and would recommend it to everyone who’s into single coil RTA’s. Its overall dimensions are perfect since it’s not towering and holds a decent amount of juice. Its aesthetic design, much like its branding, is basic and subtle. The air stream is exemplary and brings a balanced amount of moist & sultry flavor.

Just to help with the rabbit hole, the crius 2 and the engine nano are two others worth trying for single coil rta’s. Although I’ve heard there may be quite a few new single coilers released very soon. Uh oh.

Week 2 of using this as my daily tank now and here are a few more pointers

• When wicking, a good fluff sitting on the juice hole will help from pressure leaks. Priming helps secure the cotton plugging the channel also. My last few builds no leaking experienced. Common for most rebuildables.
• When capping after a fill, it’s easiest to push the top cap down so the orings are secured to the top of the tank piece. This will help guide the chimney threading onto the top cap.

I use rayon & this tank does use a lot of wicking. On my first build I did experience a little seeping after a refill but on my current build I didn’t trim my rayon at all which is usually what you would do with rayon & no a drop. But with all my rta’s without jfc I usually burp them after filling.
