Clapton Coil and flavor

I'm new to wicking. I got the Smok tfv12b princr RBA. First I tried the pre-installed kanthal Clapton coils. They make great clouds. No question... But the flavor is somehow muted or flat. Then I installed 2 standard ni80 26g Single wire. It tastes better.

I wonder what I don't wrong.

Many variables here, but I know when I first started using claptons I was surprised at how well they work/wick with very tightly wicked coils. I now regularly have to hold my coil as I’m pulling my wick through them.
