I will second this after trying 5 or 6 different vendors. Even better than being clean, it is annealed and about as soft as SS316L. NO spring back factor at all. Easier to wrap a coil than with Kanthal.
Not the ti. at this moment not sure if entirely safe, same as Ni.thanks for the heads up. have you used this wire?

But the kanthal is clean, only place i order from.
Like BigNasty, not the TI - Kanthal / SS / Nichrome all from TemCo, all very clean. I switched to the SS from Ni also as the most current info i have says that it's the least unsafe. So Far have been happy enough with the flavor and performance. Never had any issues with TemCo always good service (not super fast, but reliable and timely enough) Price seems to be very good compared to what I saw for spider silk etc.. I think you will be happy with them.
Not so much as you would think, if you have a nickel sensitivity or allergy chances are Ti. will also cause a reaction.what info are you both referring to in regards to Ti safety. Ti is one of the most inert materials known to man. far more inert than SS or kanthal. so when used in a TC application it should be as safe as it gets.
and how do you know kanthal is safe? wouldnt the same worry be for kanthal as it is for any other wire?

Know a few people who have a serious allergic reaction to TI. a buddy's is damned near as reactive as my shellfish allergy.
ok yeah obviously allergies are an issue, but that doesnt address how an inert material, used well within a safe temp range, could be unsafe for those without allergies. Ti is highly used inthe medical industry. from instruments to implants. people walk around with grade 1 Ti implanted in their body. as long as it isnt producing oxides i dont see where the worry is.
i just cannot see how kanthal or any of the other options are more safe than Ti. are there any studies to back this? an in depth thread here perhaps?
It is in a ton of consumer products and food additive also.Very good points! Agreed on most of them - Titanium Dioxide is one unknown.. supposedly safe to ingest but no def studies that I know of regarding inhalation .. plenty of questions regarding long term use of any wire for that matter .. I chose the SS as my go to and am happy with it at this time.. but thinking I may look into the Ti some more ..
