So i was poking around the interwebs and found this

http://m.ebay.com/itm/331638628999?_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649&_mwBanner=1&varId=540806818426

What are yalls opinions of getting a clone RDA for a first RDA?

I started vaping again ( back in 12 i ttied with the ego pens and it lasted a few months beforr i started smoking again )about 2-3 weeks ago and i love my herkles sub ohm tank but im on my 4th coil (i think my last one was bad cause after 2 days it looked like the one i had in for 8-9 days) but im interested in RDA's buy im hesitant to drop money on a authentic incase the whole rebuilding thing isnt for me.

I figure at 16 bucks for the black and blue spatter with free shipping it couldnt hurt my pocket to much if i decide i dont like it.

Also what kind of wire and cotton should i get to try this?

Thanks and sorry for all the noob questions haha

Looks like a velocity. Search for velocity and see what people have to say.

Yea its suppose to be a velocity clone and a few youtubers and people in the comments of those videos seem to like it.

Their main complaint is the hex screws being soft and stripping easily but im sure they can be swapped

There are still people that will say "FUCK CLONES" i am not one of them,in the beginning when china 1st started cloning i did say fuck clones, but china has since stepped up its game and gotten good at cloning,i can name 3 attys that the clone is better then the real deal

at that price GO FOR IT !!

wire, most will say kanthal is the best,i disagree .i only use nichrome 80 series ,thats a personal choice

wick, most are using some kind of cotton,if you are planning on vaping a high VG juice ,then i suggest you go with cotton

Yea reading the coment section i noticed that haha the chick i was watching had an unbranded velocity, the tebeco velocity and the mini one and all 3 seemed like they were pretty good but the tebeco had better screws and a tighter airflow spinny thing as the unbranded was loose. The unbranded from ebay and the tebeco from their website are about the same price so ill probably pull the trigger on the tebeco if i decide to go ahead and say fuck it and get one.

I think she was using clapton wire? But it seems like kanthal and the clapton wire seem to be the go to wire but ill have to do some more research on that.

Dumb question but will cotten balls work? Or is that a terribke idea? There seems to be more reaserch to be done before i decide anything haha

Tha ks for the info!

I have the Tobeco Velocity clone myself. No problems here.

Tobeco and Ehpro are good cloner companies. Meanwhile, they create their own toppers.

you can,but you'll have to boil the hell out of it,3 times minimum as it has a waxy coating on it

suggest you try out some "ken go doh" [sp] its japanese cotton

Before switching to Japanese cotton, I was using organic cotton balls, never boild those. However, the Japanese cotton is much better. Peeling off the outer thin layers makes it even better.

I've been using the same $4 bag of organic cotton balls I got from Walgreens over a year ago. No need to boil. I actually prefer them over the Japanese cotton pads I tried. I also have a tobeco rda. The outside is perfect. The inside isn't finished as nicely, but it functions as it should. I'd go with the tobeco over the no-name.

^ the popping he is talking about has nothing to do with where the coil is positioned or anything else like that

the popping is from the VG ,and is most noticeable with a new coil

I never said the popping had anything to do with the position of the coil. Are you daft? I said you don't want the wick too loose, meaning smaller than the ID of the coil. You want the wick to move back and forth from one side of the coil to the other without snagging, but not loose. That has nothing to do with the position of the coil. What I know is that I was having major issues with popping, and it made it extremely uncomfortable to vape for me. I googled it, and the page I read said that the popping comes from a combination of making your wick too thick and over-saturating the wick. So I made my wicks a little thinner, and instead of dripping straight onto the wick I now fill my drip well. I have not had any issues with popping since doing this method, and I was testing different builds all day on Tuesday. And I vape high vg. So most noticeable with a new coil? Due to high vg? Doubtful on both counts.

you need a picture or what

all this expertise and only after one week of building ,uuuuuuuh are you an Einstein

If your mod does not have a floating 510 center pin, you will need an rda with an adjustable 510 pin or it most likely won't fire. Kanthal A-1 26g is a good wire for beginners. I just started building myself a little over a week ago, and its really pretty simple. You don't need many tools for starting out, a small Phillips screwdriver (I use a 2.4mm Phillips to wrap my coils), a pair of nail clippers works well for cutting the wire, and a pair of tweezers or pliers if you want to squeeze the coil together after heating it up. I personally do not do this, because I vape high vg and I feel the juice gets into the coil better without, but you might choose differently. I also do not build with my atty attached to my mod, I have a mech mod so its unregulated and I just find it easier to hold my atty in my hand while building. I use Japanese cotton pads, but they can be a little tricky. Make the wick too thick and you might get dry hits, drip too much juice on it and it will drown the wick and you will get a lot of popping which I find uncomfortable to vape that way. You want the wick so its not too loose, but can easily move back and forth within the coil without snagging. What I do is trim my wick so there is only one tail, and the other end of the wick is pancaked. I tuck the tail under the coil, and rather than drip onto the wick itself, I fill my drip well with juice. I don't know if the velocity has a drip well or not. Before I started using this method of wicking and dripping, I was getting a lot of either popping or dry hits but this method has worked well for me so far. I'm using a steamcrave clone rda, and I love it so far. The air flow is amazing and the drip tip is designed to keep from juice spitting into your mouth. So like I said, these are all things I learned in the week I've been dripping so far which no one really told me, I learned by a combination of googling and experimenting. I went to a shop where they showed me the basics of building coils, but not really anything else. Hopefully some of this info is helpful to you. Ymmv.
I disagree.

Here is the thing. We all have preferences. I like to use a lot of cotton. I mean a lot. I jam as much as I can into my RDA because I do like to constantly have to re-drip. I do have a tendency to flood my RDA at times which on some drippers can be bad ( I burned myself on juice once - once - in the last year). I get popping when i over juice ... it also somewhat screws with the flavor BUT I often get a good fifteen plus pulls off a drip. Once you get to know your RDA you will find your comfort spot.

As for building coils - I always use clapton coil. It tastes bgreat and the coils last months. You can buy fused wire these days. You can buy some very good prebuilt clapton coils. I tend to build below .2 ohms. That is how I like my vape. I just built a .22 build and was not as happy. I eat through batteries at work - three over seven hours. Now others prefer to build around .5 ohms. Their batteries last longer. I use mechs. I only use a regulated with my atties at home. I love tube mechs. I own a slew.

Cotton balls do work. I use japanese cotton in the bag - not the strips. You get my drift here? There is no ONE way to drip or build. Over time you will find what is comfortable for you. You will undoubtedly make mistakes - bad builds, too much or too little cotton, etc. Don't sweat that. But learn battery safety. That is much more important.

Vape on - hope you enjoy dripping as much as I do. I rarely use a tank these days.

Sometimes coils need to be over saturated though, what I do is
I drip 5 times on top my twisted 22g n80 4/5wraps 2.5 diameter .16 ohms (dual coil)
Vaping at 90 watts 3.4 volts..
Before I put in my mouth I let it pop twice
Then I'm good to go!!

Hello there
Getting clone now a days is not a big deal anymore, China manufacturers are widely accepted compared 2years ago!!

Velocity? Get the tobecco version!
This rda is very easy, simple to build on, but in order for u to get the real flavor, vapor combo from this rda, you can't just build regular micro/macro coil on this, this rda works best with Clapton coils, fused Clapton etc etc...

Here's what I suggest you to START WITH
regulated box mod 30-65 watts
30 amp batteries Sony,Samsung,mnke,lg
Ohm meter
26-28 khantal
CERAMIC TWEEZERS
WIRE CUTTER
Coil jig wrap
Japanese cotton
Pair of scissors

RDA RECOMENDATIONS
Sapor rda
Velocity mini
Troll rda
Freakshow rda
Mutation x v3 v4 rda

WATCH YT VIDS for wrapping techniques!
Vaping is very subjective.
The more you practice the more you will find out what works for you, and to achieve the ultimate goal quitting the stinkies for good!
Be safe

Add ceramic tweezers
OHM METER very important! It measures the exact ohms of the coils, I know the ipv already can tell you the ohms of ur coils, but
For me I ALWAYS check with my ohm meter before my mod!

Which rda are you trying to get?
The 0.6 on the herakles is just too much juice guzzler, I think they use NICHROME.. Best subohm tank, it's the only one I'm using sometimes..,
Only time can tell how low u go..

NOT ! When ur building dual coils and u have to squeeze in to cut wires.. Nail clippers are good for rta

Everyone is different bro, you said yourself that vaping is subjective. I build single 1ohm coils on my rda, and I prefer the nail clippers over the diagonals. I even said "I find for myself", meaning in my OWN experience. Don't ever correct me on my own experience again. Thank you.
Your new here, been building for a week, you've got it all figured out and you're an asshole. Nice job.

It is SUBJECTIVE and there's proper ways of doing it..
The OP is gonna start dripping, building his own coils. Like what I said its gonna be hard to use those clippers for dual coils.
And like what i said for RTA's single coil, yes off course clippers are easy
But in the end of the day
Nail clippers are for NAILS!!
Be safe

Just to pipe in again here. I use clones too but I will rejig my clones. I exchange parts on my clones and make them better be it o-rings, screws, posts, insulator, etc. I have totally rebuilt a clone and they vape better than originals ( I have a diablo rebuild that is amazing and a fantastic doge both with improvements). Now do not expect to able to fix up your clones from the get go. It is a learning experience. Authentics have a lot of issues too and need fixing - drilling out a bigger post hole - finding a bottom feeding pin - I can go on and on. I do prefer authentics TBH, but I am a bit of a vaping snob. I admit it. Clones are fine.

Now ej1024 listed his favorite atties. I can tell you that some of those are not as nice or easy to build on as others. I have tried most of those atties and the only two I still use on that list is the mutation and the velocity mini (great for a single verticval coil on a 18350 mech stealth mod). Again - this are just my preferences. There is nothing wrong with his list. And don't use nail clippers - get the right tools for an RDA. A coil jig is great for starting out - I don't use mine often anymore but they are very good. You get to build 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 diameter coils easily. Check ebay. There are a lot of good kits for RDAs.

If you decide on the velocity you should be fine. The velocity clone is decent - as I said I use the mini clone myself. Now you are being inundated with advice here. Go slow - enjoy your vaping experience. Don't put any pressure on yourself and you will be fine.

Now as ej1024 rightly said - vaping is subjective. We all have preferences. But there are correct and incorrect ways of building coils - be safe at all times. On my 18350 I vape at .8 ohm. I love to vape below .2 but I'm not doing it on that mod. It is not safe.

Im currently running an ipv4s with dual awt imr 18650's 2500 mah 35A batterys and i had a .2 TC coil in my sub ohm tank and it worked good ( not a fan of TC as i came to find out hha) so im pretty sure as long as i dont get to crazy and do a .11 i think i should be alright? Im aiming for a .3-.6 ohm dual coil build it what im going to start with.

The reason i want to get into RDA's is im quite fond of tinkering woth things so i figure its worth a shot :)

Also to test my DIY flavors before i fill up a tank with them and to have something to vape at home and to keep my tank for work as i dont have time at breaks to be dripping every X amount of pulls

And yea theres quite alot of difference in opinions as im starting to see haha ill just have to SAFELY trial and error on my builds but it seems for this clone the dual coil build would be the best since thats what most people build on the velocity clone RDAS

THANKS for your input

Wrong. I've seen several of your posts in different threads. You said you just started building, which is apparent by the advice you give, but you act like you got it all figured out and talk to people like you're some kind of pro builder that's been doing it for years. Then when someone disagrees with you, you get shitty. You're establishing a pattern of being an arrogant, ignorant asshole.

Build resistance has nothing to do with battery current in a variable wattage mod. If the mod will fire it the resistance is fine. The watt setting and battery voltage determine how many amps you pull from the batteries.
