First off, apologies this review is going up late. It's been a busy week, blah blah blah, but let's get on with it because THIS EPISODE WAS AWESOME!
Community doing another paintball episode was scary going in. It’s so easy, in general, for something to feel played out and Community itself has had a couple of times where they’ve repeated a bit and it just didn’t work as well.
But “Modern Espionage” freaking nailed it. From the moment Todd and Star-Burns met in that parking lot, this episode was just delivering one hysterical moment after another. Having tackled Die Hard type large-scale action films, westerns and Star Wars in previous paintball episodes, “Modern Espionage” took a more spy-style approach, with the Greendale gang getting all fancy and ear-piece-y on us, and it worked like a charm.
