Hadnt rebuilt a coil in a while, and this one is just bad. Replaced the wire, added new cotton, primed the wick and fired it up. I dont know what i did, but it just always tasts burnt. It even made my throat hurt for a couple days, just a repulsive taste/feeling

Probably hot spots? Did you fire the coil before putting in the cotton to be sure there are no hot spots/hot legs?

Also, what are you building on? What resistance, what wattage?

What are hot spots?

And Istick 30w, tried it on about 18 at the start just to get it warmed up. Its reading at .9 also....usually reads at .6

When you fire it with no cotton, the coil should glow from the inside out - the legs shouldn't be red!

Did it glow from the inside out, evenly? Also, retighten the screws - the resistance shouldn't jump that much, so it may have worked its way loose!

Alright i tightened the screws and it went to .7, so i got all excited. Then i put the cotton in and it jumped back to .9 im so confused. Edit: pushed the spring in a little and now .8

Is that 32 gauge wire? It looks very thin for so many wraps!

And what 'spring' did you push in?

Im not sure of specifics im new to the wire stuff but it says 26 AWG. And the spring was the coiled wire

Ah, right. So take out the cotton, pulse the coil until it glows evenly from the inside out. Take you finger OFF the power button and squeeze the coil lightly with a pair of pliers. And keep checking the screws, because they can loosen up as the coil gets hot.

Then be sure you have the right amount of cotton on the coil. It should have some slight resistance as you put it in, but not enough that it's hard to pull through. Too little and you'll taste kanthal, too much and you'll get dry hits (which may be what happened before).

Alright i did that and then tried it out. Flavor was a little off at first, but then i remembered you are supposed to wait after you make a coil. Tried it again after letting it sit for a little while, and success!! Thank you so much for the help Amanda!
