Convergence: Harley Quinn #2 Review

Often, it seems as though Convergence: Harley Quinn is two completely different comics glued into one awkward whole. These individual halves work well on their own merits, but the transition from the more slapstick elements to deeper character drama is anything but smooth.

Issue #1 took a more subdued approach, focusing mainly on Harley's attempts to create a normal life under the dome before finally having her Godfather III moment. This issue veers in the opposite direction, emphasizing Harley's wacky costumed antics and only returning focus to her relationship with her cop boyfriend in the final few pages. Granted, said antics are a lot of fun to read. There's really something to be said for pitting a zany character like Harley against Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew. Steve Pugh captures the voice of this more traditional Harley every bit as well as he does the subdued Harley, and the results are very chuckle-worthy.
