Copper tape

I thought I saw where copper tape was being used inside mods. Does this tape interfere with the threads if so how badly and how to apply smoothly from one end to the other on the inside. I have a aluminum nemi that since new has wobbled and the fire button end will fall the fuck out. yes its a fast tech, no i did not file a claim. its just eye candy but If I could get it to fire nice and not fall apart that would be cool. and the copper layed across the threads if it will actually go into threads would do the trick. Any thoughts or suggestions? heading to lowes in the morning this might be worth a try IDK

big jake, i used the coppertape on my nemi for same problem you are having and it does not interfere with the threads, it worked perfectly. i had to have homedepot order it for me for pickup cause they didnt carry it on thier selves.

your welcome, also what helped was putting a small gasget or oring under the pin of the bottom cap and tighten down the screw and it will never slip out again.

Lowes said they cant get it. Walmart looked at me stupid, Home depot want $6 to ship a $7 item, Local ace lawn and garden center closed today.
However with me out running around all day the kids fired up the smoker and have the chicken all ready done and the ribs r looking good. I did not even say anything to them this morn'n they also made potato salad. so some good did come out of this and hopefully the lawn and garden center will have it when I check them out tomorrow.

If you have a stained glass place where you are go to them. We use copper tape to make stained glass windows. It's pure copper. Comes in many different sizes.

Hi @RoccoV :)
I take you tired the copper tape on mods then? Does it make a big difference? Also doesn't it get worn in the threads quick? I have a lot of black mods, and some they have painted the threads too, so have bad voltage drop, thinking this would help with that.

Thank You very much for the offer. I should be able to get it under control.. I hope. if all else fails I will give you a holler. I need this to actually work into the threads and stay so the firing button assembly is not able to pull straight out like it does now and yes it has since new. And yes With the sales going on this week I bought a copper pegasus and a stainless cartel.

I hear ya sir. The tape does conform to threads and will add some depth. Just let me know, offer stands. Enjoy the Peggy.

How you been sir? It makes a very small difference. It depends on the device but it does improve. Depending on the threads it will thread a little snug. What kind of voltage drop are you experiencing? It should help with the painted threads though. Enjoy the day!

Not doing to bad, just taking a break from blowing things up :D I don't have anything to actually tell the voltage drop, but it is bad enough for me to be able to tell it is pretty bad, cleaning the paint off the threads helped a bit, but not the 1st time I've heard about this copper tape, as I like black mechs, thinking I should get some of this copper tape to help with the voltage drop, have a great 4th :)

If you'd like sir I can send some out to you. This way you could try before you buy. Let me know. Gotta go get some fire in the sky. Be back later.

Slug tape or copper tape is usually available at most garden centers or nursery's/ it is used to wrap around plants or laid on the ground to deter insects (it releases a small electrical charge they can detect.

Rocco did send me some copper tape which came today, I have a black Caravela, which I loved the look of, but being all black (including end caps) the voltage drop was horrible, tried cleaning the paint off the threads, but didn't make much difference, but this copper tape did make quite a difference, enough for me to get some ordered off amazon, and enough now I am happy using the Caravela, instead of it being just a show piece on my shelf, thanks to @RoccoV :)

Awesome deal, I got slug tape from amazon, was around $8 and a lot less than your roll.
But is well worth the money though, it really does make a difference using it on mods where they coated the threads. This week I got a black fire of life mod, it hit really weak without the copper tape, once put copper tape on, it improved it vastly, before I took a age to dremel the coating off the threads, now just put a strip of copper tape on and done :)

Yep I dremeled the threads helped a little. But with the copper tape this panzer clone hits great now.

Wow we must have the same style. When looking for a new mech it was between the Pegasus and cartel. I bought the stainless infinite cartel clone and I have to say it was the best quality clone I have ever held. That said I love the looks but to me it just doesn't hit hard that May just be me though. I'm gonna buy the Pegasus next or a copper mutant (clones).
