So, a cool cat send me some FA Grapefruit to try because I love tart citrusy fruit. I don't consider this tart, rather a citrusy mandarin type pudding? The custard adds a touch of lemon and the grapefruit gives mandarin a bite.

2.25% FA Mandarin
1.5% FA Grapefruit
.75% FA Vanilla Tahiti
.5% FA Vienna Cream
.5% FA Custard

Let set a few days for it to smooth & blend. I like it fresh too. It's not too sweet.

We are a bunch of enablers and pitiful flavor junkies. I feel the same way. I finally decided to get flavors I thought I might like first. There are some I only use small amounts of that really bring out or add to a flavor, like a drop of cocoa to vanilla, so I'm happy to have mamajs around. I didn't want to cheat on @wllmc, so @caddisfly kindly sent me a sample from his stock. If there is a flavor I want and mamaj doesn't carry it of FA I pm him and he gets it. Really liking grapefruit wllmc, but got enough to last me 6 months, maybe??

Euw!!! ....One of my customers told me to salt them, it brings out the natural sugar in the fruit. It works too - I could eat a dozen long as I have a salt shaker handy.

I'm a sour puss! It's so good...lemons and limes, grapefruit and tangerines, mangos and limes, oh my! I should live in Florida! My whole yard would be a cocktail citrus tree.

Salt? Yep people in the south do that to their watermelon, cantaloupe. Yuck! Never tried it on grapefruit though, makes me wonder.

A sprinkle of salt on watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe is the only way to go! It pulls the juice to the surface and makes it yummy. If you can't get past the thought of it, try thinking of it as sorta like the gourmet chocolate that has sea salt (which is good, too). Never tried salt on grapefruit. Will have to give that a try :)

I love grapefruit. I want to try this but don't have Tahiti. How about classic or bourbon?

Hmmm, I haven't tried it with either of those, but I would opt for vanilla classic over vanilla bourbon. Try it with .5% FA Vanilla classic and see how you like it. Remember it will blend better in a day or two. Play with it. You can always increase the custard or grapefruit to your liking or Vienna cream. You could also try leaving out the vanilla and increase the custard & Vienna cream to .75% Of course it will be somewhat different, and I don't know how much, but who cares if you like it. At least you know the flavors will work together.

If you find a variation you like, please post it in here. I truly enjoy working on recipes with others vs. doing it alone...It's way more fun to me. And it seems everyone of us is always short a flavor or two.

We were just about out of soda the other day and there was only 1 2 liter bottle left, grapefruit soda. No one was touching it. I thought what the hell, I'll try it. It was delisious.

Did you put salt in it? Just kidding. That's a great idea though...a grapefruit soda.
