Cuboid TC engaging too early

So I will first say that I am still a bit new to vaping, and completely new to temperature control mods. I just bought a Cuboid TC 150w mod today, as well as 26g titanium wire for my coils. My RDA is a Doge V4 dripper. So my situation is that my temp protection engages way too fast. The temperature it reads off one tap of the fire button from rest is about 40-50 degrees Celsuis @25-30w. Resistance is at .16 ohms. Can someone please help me with this? It's got me scratching my head getting frustrated, feeling like I blew my money on something I can't figure out.

What temp does it cut in at? Does it not fire to a higher temp at all?

Currently the initial wattage is set at 55w, and I can get it to make some clouds but I just have to pull hard to keep it going and I don't get any flavor.

Have you tried a non dripper set up? Or a different coil?

I have a standard tank on it now, non-TC. Works fine. The ohms on the tank are .17 ohms. The only other wire I have is kanthal so that won't help with figuring out the TC issue. How would a different coil help troubleshoot the TC issue, perhaps increasing the resistance?

It may be a simple issue with the rda? The fact that a standard tc tank works fine says no issue with the mod. Afaik you can't use kanthal in tc on the cuboid.

Maybe get some ni or ti and build a new coil with that?

Just re-read. So standard tank you are using in vw?

Yes, my standard tank I'm using in vw as well as when I made another set of kanthal coils, just so I could use my dripper. Just a recap of what was happening, when I built it with titanium, it would flash to the set temp limit way too fast to even hardly produce any vapor.

Now if I am right, with only .16 ohms of resistance when I made the ti coils, that wire would get very hot very fast if it wasn't for the TC, let alone just outright burn the coil up.

Try wicking a little more loosely.

When I was a dripper on a mech kind of guy I tended to stuff as much rayon into the coils as I could. When I switched to tc I found that wicking that tightly would actually cause me issues. Loosened up the wick a bit so it wasn't as tight inside the coil and all of my problems were solved.

new to this thread, i owned a cuboid and had the same issues at first. temp control kicked in way too early. your coils might not be tightened completely and/or you don't have your resistance locked when the coils are at room temperature. if you do have those things on point, my suggestion is you set the temp at its highest and pulse fire.... you should be able to hear it. from there, adjust the settings going from its highest down to your desired settings.
before i lost my cuboid, the thing was firing cool vape at around 420f. but that is just my preference. hope this helps

To the wicking suggestion, I will try that. When I pull the cotton through the coil it'll sometimes tear so I must be stuffing it too tightly.

And in reference to judge, what do you mean by pulse fire? Should the coil be dry or already have the cotton through it and wet? If there's a way I can get my cuboid to show Fahrenheit that'd probably help. It only shows Celsius.

pulse firing= hitting the fire button in short bursts (i think, not too familiar with the lingo). With the cuboid, when set at its highest setting, in tc mode, either in celsius or Fahrenheit, hitting the fire button in short bursts, you'll be able to tell if it's working bcuz it fires at its highest temp. i actually did this by accident. i broke down my set up several times, and somehow had my temp set at 600f before i tried a new one. when i went to vape, the mofo sent a hot plume of vapor. too hot to mess with. I simply turned it down from there until i found my sweet spot.
your cuboid has a power mode and reads tc in Fahrenheit and celsius. im pretty sure the manual tells it better than i can.

but i pulse fired at its highest setting with my coils fully wicked and juiced up. something about burning the cotton that in not too crazy about.

Besides what has been mentioned already. TC does need a bit getting used to, in particular the settings. If you look at it in a simple way, the wattage is used to regulate the speed in which the coil reaches the set temperature. Therefore, if TC kicks in too early, you have two options.
1.) decrease the wattage
2.) increase the temperature

Went into the vape shop where I got the cuboid and the guy there helped me out. The temperature right now is at 590 Fahrenheit with 50w, still .15 ohms. I can get a full pull with that setting without drying out too fast.

It certainly was pretty confusing at first but like you guys said, pretty much trial and error to figure out that sweet spot. Thanks for the help!
