Curious about builds

I know you can build and get different ohm coils with different size wire, and I also know you can build a coil at say 1.00 ohm on 28 ga wire, and do the same 1.00 ohm build with 30 ga wire by how many wraps you use,and the same with 32 ga wire, the question I have here is,i want to build a 1 ohm coil, and some of them are harsher than others, using the same juice, like take your breath away harsh, are the smaller 32 ga wires harsher or the larger 28 ga wire harsher with the same ohm build
I hope im making sense here as it can get very confusing to me,,,,,i keep notes on my different builds and different atomizers,,,,I,usually put stars by my good builds but I just don't remember wich ones took my breath away,,,,can any body give me a little bit of clarification here? Thanks

Thinner wire heats up faster at a given resistance compared to thicker wire at the same resistance. As you run higher wattages; there comes a point where the coils heat up too fast, scorching a bit of your wick, and leaving you with a rough scratchy hit.Ive noticed that if i really want to pour on the power; i better use heavier wire; regardless of the ending ohms

I am curious if you are using a mech or VW device. The simple answer is, thicker lower gauge wires take more watts to heat up but get hotter and can be harsher. Thinner wire heats up faster. Generally, thicker wire is harsher unless you adjust the airflow. With that said it is more complex than that.

The build you are using and the atty impacts the vape greatly. To many wraps can make it harsh, not enough airflow can make it harsh, where your coils are positioned relative to your air holes can make it harsh. For me, anything more than 8 coils on 28 gauge at 2mm I start to notice. I prefer to build on a 3mm screwdriver which I find makes the vape smoother with more wraps but that is just me. On my magma, a 10 coil dual 28 gauge can be harsh, but on a CLT V2 it is fine. I love to run 24 gauge and under but I run with very open air flow.

My tips for a guild build (use at your own risk).
*Do not use more than 8 wraps. If you want more resistance adjust the diameter of the wrap or the coil gauge.
*Place the coil at the same level or slightly above your air holes.
*Use Japanese cotton.

When I started, I thought there would be more.

im using a 4nine and trying to build on my Kaiser,,,i have had a few good builds and a few bad builds, its just this one was kinda harsh and wanted a little input on remedies,,,,,,i have done so many builds over the yrs my mind just went blank on me
so I want a 1 ohm build,single coil,,,from what I gathered on your post I should use 32(smallest I have)and I use cellu cotton,and you think I will probably be ok

If you use a 3mm diameter you can get 26 gauge at 7 wraps single for 1 ohm or 5 wraps of 28. 28 gauge is what I recommend people to start with until they find what they like. Check out www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp to see what makes 1 ohm. Awesome tool.

thanks a lot for the feedback,i have 28,30 and 32 on hand,so I will try with the 28 and see how that works,,,,its like anything, but anybody that builds coils says they haven't had bad ones then I say they havnt built many,,,i was just kinda stumped,,,,i really appreciate it ,,,,,I will let you know how this works

What has been your best coil in terms of flavor? Im struggling with my magma a bit, difficult for a cloud chaser to start working with single coils and higher gauges... :D

I like using 28 for under an ohm, 30 for ohm-ish and 32 for over and up.

That's assuming single coils. I also love my twisted 33 gauge, as it's about the same resistance as 28 IIRC, but gives hella flavor and fast heating for DC's.

I have both my Aqua and Fogger setup with that stuff in Dual Coils at 1.1 ohms and it's lovely on my mechs.
