Derringer RDA modification

I've had a derringer rda clone for a few weeks now and love it for my single coil nickel builds. The only draw back it has for me is the condensation building up on the inner ring.
So I started thinking of notching a oring slot in the top but scrapped that idea as I use it in single coil and it would just build up between the orings. Found the main problem might be because its a clone and milling tollerances are probably off. There is a slight gap between the top cap and inner ring where everything will collect.

I ended up grabbing some teflon tape and wrapping it twice around that inner ring. Top cap fits nice and tight now and no condensation! Maybe try some heatshrink wrapping next? if its thin enough...

So what are your thoughts on using Teflon like this? Its rated for 500F+ and my TC is set to 410. Not much juice even touches the tape. Maybe only at the top or around the AFC holes.

Maybe just buy the authentic?? Unless that has the same issue...

Teflon seems okay, but I think it would bother me to do that. Pieces of Teflon might rub off and get into your juice.
I have a $10 EHPro Derringer that fits snugly, so maybe it is your particular clone. If you want the EHPro clone it's on eBay. Paste the following string into your search:
Derringer Rebuildable RDA RBA Stainless Brass Black Copper turbo tobh atomizer

Mine fits more than snug, it's freaking tight. Hopefully it will break in a little because it is a pain to get the top off. Other than that, it's great.

After I built mine (dual Ni200 coils with 28 awg), and lined up the holes, I don't mess with it. I drip 10 drops at a time through the top. But right, the thing does not come apart easily...so I leave it together.

I built a few coils since I posted that, it's gotten just a little easier now, still tight though. I did discover that 24awg Ni200 is hard to get over .1ohm and still fit... Tiny little thing, the derringer.

24awg works for single coil builds, but not dual. Kanthal, anyway. I've yet to test out my 26awg tempered Ni200. Ni200 reads temp by changing resistance as it warms and cools. Atty needs to be room temp when screwed onto mod.
I am surprised by Derringer. Hobo needs a coil change so began using Derringer, and it does chuck!

I got Ni200 because I picked up a SnowWolf with tc. I think I'll need 28-30 for a single coil to get me in the .5ohm range. I don't really want to go lower than .5 yet.

Yea it does. Blows the Subtank away with clouds and flavor. I'm really impresses for $10. Thank you for turning me on to that one.

That was a $10 well spent. I am pleased with mine as well.
That Snow Wolf box mod has five star reviews, so that was a good purchase.

At this point, I love the Snow Wolf. Hard hitting box for sure. I just ordered some 28awg nickel wire so I can start using tc as well.
28AWG Ni200 is about right. It's what I built my dual coils with. I have 26AWG tempered Ni200, but it's more for single coil builds.
NOTE: I just ordered another EHPro Derringer from the same seller. That really is a bargain. I planned to order two, but saw the Nucleus for $11.99 and couldn't resist its allure........

I'll add some 26 sooner or later. I picked up 22 localy and the biggest coil I could fit was only .1ohm. I don't really want to go that low yet. I would rather err on the side of caution...

There are a couple places with some cheap clone rda's. I've been thinking of ordering $100 worth of different stuff to try it out. For $8-15, you really can't go wrong. Even if they are junk, they would still be worthwhile as a paper weight.

There are good clones and bad clones. I like eBay because I can read the feedback from those who have bought the device.
I'm with you...I like to have a variety of RDAs to play with (even though part of me wants to live simply with only a few devices).
I have, or will have (RDAs, mostly Infinite clones):
Paradigm Magma (3)
Hobo V2 (2)
Authentic Made in USA Deadmodz Pyrex (2)
Wotofo Troll
Derringer (2)
Geyser
Kennedy
Hobo V3
Velocity
Nucleus
Total RDAs: 15

* I sold my Stillaire and my Tobh Atty...

I just ordered this from the Derringer seller on eBay for $11.99 + free shipping (paste this string):
Nucleus Atomizer RBA RDA Rebuildable Vaporizer

That's a good point, I don't want to end up will junk. The stuff I was looking at was all infinite or Wotofo. I can't remember the site right now, maybe 3fvape or something like that. I did pick up a Freakshow localy, nice and well built. I've always been into collecting, so, well, I'm sure I will amass a collection. Plus, I gave my iStick 30 and my Nautilus mini to a friend in need, so I have more room. Lol.

I was looking at that nucleus after I got the derringer the other day. It looks like a nice one.

Check out the Bambino rda. Similar to the Derringer. The airflow isn't adjustable and it's designed for dual coils, but it has a two piece top cap. There's also a bambino top cap that's made to be used in place of the Derringers top cap. That way you still get to use the inner ring for adjusting airflow and still get the option of single or dual coil mode, but you can take the top of the top cap off while leaving the outer barrel in place.

I have an Infinite clone Bambino. It looks cool on my 18350 Calvert mod. I like the way the top cap pops off (be sure to have the beveled edge of the outer ring turned up). I haven't fully familiarized myself with it...just threw a single 24 awg Kanthal build in it until I get serious with it.
I paid $20 for the Infinite clone, but with simple RDAs like the Bambino, I think a lower-priced clone would do just as well.

Remember that the Derringer is an EHPro? I think EHPro could qualify as a "good" clone...

Yup, that's another one on the good list. There are a few good and cheap options out there.

3fvape is not the best place to order from i had a bad time getting a mod I ordered . I did A PAYPAL dispute and got my money back it took 50 or so days to get the order. it showed up a week after the paypal dispute was settled in my favor. just use precaution.

My Derringer was $8. I'm all about well made clones. Authentics would be nice, but....

I have two authentic made in USA DeadModz RDAs (retail $58 apiece). First one came with non-stainless post screws, and after I informed DeadModz, they sent me a brand new base and an extra set of stainless screws. Well, of course I had to buy another Pyrex top for $24. So, calculate that out...each one ended up costing me $41.00. Today I vaped on my DeadModz with my HanaModz and realized I really like it!
Everything I have is clone or non-USA made. The DeadModz and Hana Modz are the only exceptions. Oh...and two Provari Minis and a ProVape-1.

My derringer doesnt have a condensation problem. I run mine .35- .4 total dual coils maybe the extra heat keeps it from happening to me. Hope you get it figured out cuz this really is a great lil atty!

Well, the teflon didnt last too long maybe 5 days before it started turning into a gellatin...
Sooo, I wont be doing that again.

Ordered 2 different clones hoping they will fit better one of them said its a "v2" with a different center pin.

Ohhh...THAT Teflon!!! I had to return to your original post to remind myself.
Ewwwwwwwwwww....
Great experiments in Vaping #1: ZONK!!
My great experiment was marinating spices in vape juice base. Okay, but DIY flavors and premixed juices are much better.
Your logic of Teflon withstanding 500 degrees sounded logical, at least.
