For IGN’s Destiny House of Wolves review in progress, we decided to take a modular approach. Destiny is complex game, with different parts aimed at different audiences. For this entry, let’s focus on PvE content, and how the campaign and Strike mission are an improvement over the tacked on feel of The Dark Below.


Though the story is still muddled, House of Wolves has much better pacing than Destiny’s previous campaigns. The five story mission story arc is filled with exciting moments to help them stand out, even if Bungie is reusing a lot of spaces we’ve seen before. In the first one, called A Kell Rising, I used the new heavy Pike to tear through swarms of Fallen before dismantling a Spider Tank by using deployable mines and barrages of cannon fire. In Queen’s Ransom, I storm through the familiar Citadel on Venus before charging headfirst into a brand new area deep in Vex territory. These action packed moments feel carefully tuned and precise. They succeed because they’re genuinely fun to play.
