Just stumbled across DKS on a website.
https://www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/epag...46fvrnud/Categories/Mixology/DKS_Concentrates
There's some really promising flavours listed on there. They look high quality as well.
Have any of you gets ever seen or tried any of these before?
I'm curious what is drawing you to this brand? What I'm about to say might sound like an argument against the company but is just my first reaction and a ltitle by way of an explanation as to why I'm asking you to say more about what you like about them.
They are very pricey - 5ml bottles for $5.36 each plus whatever shipping costs. They say to start at 1-3%, but the two buyer comments on the OnStopDIYShop.com argue with that, saying that between 5 and 20% is needed.
Here is what is said on the Cloud9 site about ingredients:
"KS E-liquid is a new branch of DKS Aromatic, Italian flavourists with over 40 years experience. Now bringing their expertise to the e-liquid world, using patented formulas, producing 100% natural e-liquid using Propylene Glycol from non-genetically modified maize, vegetable glycerine & distilled water.
First class ingredients, natural flavours, no chemical agents - 100% natural."
Non-GMO PG is awesome. (Here in the U.S. companies don't have to tell us whether any of our consumables have been meddled with in this way. Not sure how the heck that happened, but there are GMOs freakin' everywhere!) "All natural" sounds great--although I'm never sure exactly what that means. There's no mention of the (naturally occurring) chemicals that have been identified as potentially risky (diacetyl and acetyl propionyl) for inhalation. I don't strictly avoid vaping those, but it's important to me to know if a flavor I'm using has them. I tend to respect a company that makes the choice open that can of worms by bringing it up more than one which does not.
Below, I pasted some more
copy on DKS Aromatics/DKS Liquid from an American e-liquid site that is partnering with them. Frankly, it sounds like the usual careful marketing language that conveys very little and may be, or border on being, disingenuous. Maybe they're the best new thing out there--I haven't tried them and i'm not passing judgment. I just don't see anything yet that makes me think they are special. (The bracketed comments in the quotation are mine).
"We are very pleased to announce our partnership with DKS liquid
from Italy. B.V are now supplying their 100% natural patented
e-liquid, 0% nicotine, 200% flavour, 100% natural. The 200%
flavour means that it can be cut with their flavourless base (zero) and/or with a nicotine base like the one that we already sell.Italian company DKS are leading the way with the first 100% natural e-liquid. [Could this possibly be true? What does it even mean?] <-
They have developed a patented process for creating propylene glycol, a
common ingredient in e-liquid, from non-genetically modified corn.
"In a world where we often imagine everything we consume as the end result of
some type of chemical manufacturing, its nice to have a little relief in the
knowledge that what we’re inhaling isn’t" [Happy meaningless marketing talk]. <-
The company has a perfect foundation already, due to its association with well
established flavor producer, DKS Aromatic, this means that they’ve arrived on
scene with tools that few in the e-liquid industry have: a state-of-the-art lab
with technology like gas-chromatography and mass-spectrometry. [That's nice. What will they be using these technologies for? I'd like to hear that they are using them to test their concentrates for the presence of D & AP; more and more people would like to know what's in their juice/concentrates and the ability to test for D & AP without having to hire an outside lab puts them at an advantage over most other companies selling e-juice/concentrates.]
Only natural flavours, Propylene glycol from non genetically modified corn,
vegetable glycerin and distilled water; this is the tried, tested and patented
formula; first class materials with no chemical agents."
Does "no chemical agents" mean that they haven't used solvents to extract the flavors? Or that the flavors are made only from organic materials and not synthetically created in their state-of-the-art lab? Something else? Again, not trying to start an argument, just blabbing about some stuff that occurs to me as I encounter this brand for the first time.
It sounds to me like they might be on par with FlavourArt in the sense that they are producing AND compounding their own flavor concentrates. (The main difference being that DKS is emphasizing this "natural' aspect.) If so, they would have more control over the outcomes than any other company of this type I'm aware of, and along with that, the ability to share lots of information (as does FA) with the consumer. I would be interested to hear more about them from anyone who's tried them or a company rep. if one is around.
