DNA200 without a PC?

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger and have been eyeballing the VT200 specifically. The thought of an internal battery with some serious power and an efficient chip makes me go "mmmmmmm"...

Problem is though, I'm a Mac guy. I have access to some shotty PCs when visiting family or friends, but not regularly. Is it pointless for me to even bother with a DNA? It looks like regular access to the Escribe software is pretty pertinent.

I have the VT200 and I'm a Mac guy too. It is not perfect for TC but it is usable. I have used both NI and TI without issue.

yes it is without Escribe the DNA 200 is almost useless in its current setup.. On the mac however you an get a virtual machine to run windows I have seen some of the guys do this... Now if you could borrow a PC and set up the profiles you will use and get it right once its set up you really do not need to keep going back in.. I set my stuff up a month ago and haven't logged bakc in gosh in weeks

Honestly, once you set up your different profiles for different TC wires, set your battery watt hours, mod resistance, case thermal properties. You don't really need Escribe, other than to update firmware (when updates become available). You can also set up a mac to run Escribe with a program like parallels (I don't have a mac, just what I've read). Don't get me wrong, I think it's better to have access to a pc, but once set up, for the most part I don't think it's absolutely necessary.

Cheers,
Steve

I have a Mac, and unless I bought a copy of windows, I wouldn't have gotten these if I hadn't gained regular access to a PC. You should be able to install windows and run boot camp, but that means buying windows. You don't really need to get into the program constantly, as others have said, you do need to do an initial setup. Get your profiles done. I would only want to monitor the cell voltage in the LiPo for a bit to make sure they're balanced, but you could set your charge display to show that. I suppose I haven't messed with escribe for a while on my Tugboat, and not much if at all since I set up my Reulaeux.

It's a tough call. You really do need to set up escribe and your device initially. The chip is pretty limited from the device interface, so it's a tough call.

Isent windows 10 free ?
No its a free upgrade for qualifying products ... However, if one needed a copy of windows you can get one right off of Microsoft if one knows hot to go about it legally.. And thats all I got to say bout dat

As far as I know, Evolv is working on a Mac version.

For what it's worth, I heard, on one of PBusardo's shows. that Evolv is diligently
working on a Mac version of Escribe due out sometime after the first of the year.
And as for the RX 200, there already is a Mac version of their software update listed on
Wismec's website.

Only thing i did was switch watt_hours and cell from 2 pack to 3 pack. Whats all this case thermal mumbo jumbo? I saw it in escribe but didnt bother going in.

It's a test you can run in Escribe, basically filling in the Thermal properties for your enclosure. They are: Case cooling time constant, Case heating time constant, Case USB charge temperature rise, Minimum ambient temperature, and Maximum ambient temperature. The way I understand it, those could/should be filled in by the mod maker, but mine weren't (just the default Evolv numbers were there). I'm not sure that it's absolutely necessary to do it. I figured it's free to run, I had some extra time, it couldn't hurt, so I ran it.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit You find it by clicking on the mod tab, then click on manufactures settings, it's at the bottom of the page, then click Case Analyzer.

This stuff sounds like brain surgery to me. I read the words but my head sees blah blah blah blah. I just don't comprehend.
