Do I need to worry?

Ok guys hope you are all doing well this Easter weekend!

So as some of you may know I took the plunge and decided to get into building. Today I picked up all my new gear from the mailbox which included:

RX 200
6 LG batteries 3000mah
efest blu chager
Griffin tank
Coil master kit

Well I just finished building my very first coil from 24 Gauge Kanthal on a 3mm diameter wrap with 9 wraps. I tested the ohm on the reader and got a .42 reading. So I wicked this bad boy up and have taken a few hits. So far I am not getting quite flavour I do off this build like I am use to on running a presa TC 75 with the magnus tank running at .5ohms. I really think this has something to do with my wicking technique or lack there of.

My question is two fold, first and foremost is there any sort of technical issues I could run into like this thing blowing up on me? and second can someone recommend a good youtube tutorial for wicking?

Thanks in advance!

No, you wont blow yourself up with that RX200 unless you do some really insane crazy shit with it. But that thing will handle just about everything you can throw at it. I vape everything from .15 coils up to 1ohm coils on it all over the place with the wattage and never had a problem.

Wicking is tricky when you first start. I had lots of problems with it in the beginning. Try the video below, it should help a bit. For me, I was using too much cotton. Just use enough to where you can pull it through with minimal resistance and to where you can pull it back and forth somewhat easily

yeah it looks like i was using too much cotton. i don't get any dry hits which is good and I am what you would consider a chain vaper.

Do you tend to change wicking when you change flavours? how long does a typical coil last? and do you re-wick a few times before the coil dies?

A coil will last for many weeks ... Even months. Wicks will last 3-7 days depending on juice your vaping. Juices with sweetners will gunk up your wick & coil. Dry burn your coil each wick change to clean.

I usually don't rewick with juice changes, but on a rta it may take half a tank to get all the old flavor out. I have different attys set up with different juices so rarely change flavors on a wick.

No worries about blowing it up. The RX will keep that from happening, so long as the coil is within the values the mod will fire. I agree that's too much cotton. Next time you order, try some rayon.

Most welcome. I'm vaping on simple 3mm SS dual coils now, .25Ω in TC mode @480f. Nice thing about SS, I can switch over to power mode if I want.

Well, not sure if that arts & craft stuff from walmart is coated with anything, but Id be hesitant personally. May need some good cleaning with alcohol or vodka, perhaps even pre-torch to sterilize.

Some vape shops and B&Ms carry it. I gotta 30' spool, geekvape brand, can't remember from where offhand. Since I have both a geekvape Griffin & Avocado, was a no brainer :)

Check out GrimmGreen's Griffin video for tips on wicking, I followed his setup and it's working great. For a coil I'm running 7 wrap 24g N80, wrapped with 2.5mm core. Flavor is really nice with this build. I don't tend to change wicks with every juice change, I find there is a flavor mix for a few hits but then the new flavor takes over. Other than that I change when the taste get funky or I decide to build a new coil.

Thanks for the tip. I actually saw a couple of his clips and they were pretty helpful.

Rayon does rock. :) Need to get my pennies saved up again for another shopping run. Going to lasso a Kanger Dripbox kit. Damn cheap Terminator kit had it's positive washer get fouled. I cleaned it to no avail. Least I know I squonk, now.
