Do you think we are in the days of 'carburetors' , and "EFI" is yet to come ?

I think that in the quest for the 'ideal' vape, at some point more precise controls are going to take over.
Perhaps juice will be precisely (and adjustably) misted onto a temperature controlled element. Programming via usb will be possible for preheat, spraylength, maybe even forced airflow (or metered to bias the settings).

It just seems that nowadays, using wicks and coils seems to be sort of old fashioned (like kerosene lamps and carbureted engines).

Can I be the first to suggest, in lieu of 'EFI' .. 'EJI" ?
:)

If regulations don't kill innovation... it's possible.

Wicking isn't that bad a method, though it's a skill I've not yet mastered. :p

Temp Control is another animal all together.
Our current "wire resistance as thermometer" method is dodgy... at best.
But the next level will require temp sensing at the coil, and a new style of connector to communicate that data to the mod.

At the moment, Innokin is behind schedule releasing their new sensing product.
I did see another company with a new product which might be their take on a proprietary connector and TC sensing... but I haven't seen it again and can't recall the brand. :(

And that's just the easy next step.
Your EJI idea would require a massive addition of hardware and mod control.
Probably not in the cards anytime soon.

May be the same way an inkjet printer shoots the ink could be used to release the juice into the vape chamber would work.

this was suggested at length back in the day before vu. using a pizo motor like that found in ink jet printers however a system such as that would most likely be bigger and a seal system or pressurized some how on refill.

Unfortunately, big tobacco/pharm are pushing, in no uncertain terms, for CLOSED systems only. Prefilled cartridges with flavor and nic and no way to refill them. The FDA will approve them due to ease of control protocols. China will keep making tanks and coils for the world market, just need to find a way to get your hands on them. Sucks.

Isn't there something unconstitutional about punishing people for what they've been doing since some arbitrary date in 2007, without them knowing it was illegal?

Worse, those causing the real issue, analogue tobacco, get by Scott free. But not cigars, pips tobacco, hookah, or vaping. Not the patch, gum, inhaler, or other big pharm nic products either.

It's like punishing the kids the bullies picked on, or worse, victims of discrimination or sex abuse. OK, to a point.

What's next, banning food and beverage intriduced since Feb 2007?

I think this country has found it easier to manipulate their own, given their ineptitude in doing so abroad in recent years.

There are important needs to have government, but this is not their job. Just as it's education's need to educate, health care's need to make people well, etc.

The solution is really quite simple, but potentially very painful for the States. The FDA gained control over tobacco products based on a single action. Bill Clinton's presidential declaration in regard to nicotine paved the way for the litigation that resulted in the MSA. The result of that action is ultimately what is allowing the FDA to pursue it's regulation of Vaping. If a different President was to overturn that action and remove that authority, the FDA would become powerless in regard to Vaping. The MSA would likely fail in court after such an action resulting in the possible bankruptcy of several States who sold Tobacco bonds against future MSA receipts, but Vaping would be safe. As the Presidential declaration was in response to the repeated failure of the FDA to prove in court that nicotine needed to be regulated, overturning that declaration should not be met by much resistance in the courts.

The truth behind the MSA is that it has created a system that embraces collusion between Government and the Tobacco companies. Government now has a vested financial interest in the success of Tobacco manufacturers. Without the Presidential declaration and resulting MSA that collusion would be illegal.

As Hillary would not be likely to overturn one of the biggest things that happened under her Husband's administration.... might I suggest #AnybodyButHillaryForPresident. And if attempts in Congress to change the February 2007 date are not successful we go full nuclear and lobby for overturning Clinton's Presidential declaration to remove the right of the FDA to regulate all nicotine sources.

A cigaette is a paper tube with shredded tobacco leaves stuffed in it....sometimes a filter is added to the tube....a cigar is shredded tobacco leaves in a tube of tobacco leaves...a pipe is just stuffing shredded tobacco leaves in a chamber...all are lit with a flame.....and they all gave great smokes.....and all are very low tech.

I'm not sure if the quest for techno gadgetry is what you need for a great vape, but it is a fun hobby. It would be lovely to have a vape without coils or heating elements that gunk up. a total ceramic chamber would be nice..I could care less about making bigger clouds, but any technology to improve flavor would be great.

diehards....you vaping tobaccos

Not smoking anymore though, personally.
But I did import quite a few, including from a not-to-be-named island nation. :p

--- I'm not sure I even understand your reply... but my joke was that all handmades are all whole leaf. Only the mass production machines make sticks with shredded tobac.

Habanos FTW (they're actually not all that special... just unique to the soil).

I bet they do, I've never tried NETs though.
I've honestly never considered trying to replicate a cigar or pipe flavor.
Tobac flavors haven't been of much interest to me. I enjoy my RY4s and an occasional Pall Mall or Camel type but it's not even always in the rotation.

I may DIY them more at some point... they're not going anywhere.

Me and my boss were just talking about this the other day. We are just in the infancy of vaping and equipment right now.

I imagine a day very soon where temp control will actually read the temp, instead of just guesstimating it. Imagine a micro chip inside the coil that somehow sends info to the mod. Coils will cost 5x as much, but will last 5x as long.
