The following story contains spoilers for the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Charlize Theron is the latest actress to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and she's now officially confirmed the name of her character, Clea.

The character appears in the mid-credits scene for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, accosting Strange while he's out on a walk, stating that his actions in the film have led to dire consequences. Then she pulls a Marty McFly on the good Doctor — I didn't know you could get the former Sorceror Supreme onboard by calling him a chicken — to get him to join her in her dimension.

Theron took to Twitter today to announce her inclusion into the MCU and give her character's name. She simply states "Meet Clea," in the tweet.

If you aren't up on your Marvel Comics history, you might not know who Clea is. The sorceress is a denizen of the Dark Dimension, the realm of Dread Dormammu that we saw in the first Doctor Strange film. In fact, she's also Dormammu's niece, the daughter of Orini, the prince of the Dark Dimension, and Umar, Dormammu's sister. Over her long comic history, she's been a pupil of Strange, a love interest for the Doctor, his wife/ex-wife, and even the Sorceror Supreme of her home dimension.

Currently in the comics, Clea is the Sorceror Supreme of Earth, following the recent death of Stephen Strange. The book is still called "Strange," given that her last name is also Strange by marriage, and she's taken up the Eye of Agamotto and the Cloak of Levitation to protect our realm.

Her inclusion in the MCU points toward the third film spending more time in the Dark Dimension, as Clea seemingly attempts to free her home from her uncle. It also hints at a potential romance for the duo, considering that Strange's connection with Rachel McAdams' Christine Palmer has been put behind him. Finally, her brief mention of reality incursions almost definitely points to Secret Wars as the next major storyline for the MCU.

If you have already seen Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, you might have questions about the ending or where we might see the Illuminati next. The cast also talked about working with director Sam Raimi, who delivered a film that might've gone a bit hard on that PG-13 rating. And if you've seen the latest film, then all that's left is to wait for the upcoming Ms. Marvel show on Disney+.
