Does Plastic Memories Have Pacing Problems?

Excellent pacing has the power to pull viewers emotions in multiple directions while not letting the show lose its edge, but when done poorly, it can lead to drawn out exposition and poorly contrived subplots. IGN’s Alaina Yee and Miranda Sanchez debate on whether or not the anime Plastic Memories is having pacing problems, or if the pacing is instead being used for a greater emotional effect.



Plastic Memories examines the relationships between humans and androids. Protagonist Tsukasa takes a job in the terminal service department that is responsible for collecting androids that are at the end of their shelf life. As the android expires, it begins to lose its memories, personality, and can even become lethal. Instead of just focusing on one retrieval every week, Plastic Memories features Tsukasa’s relationship with his android partner, Isla.
