Dominion started off its second season on solid footing thanks to an action-packed premiere that showcased more of the wider world outside of Vega. For the most part, the second episode manages to keep that momentum going. One of the three main storylines isn't up to snuff right now, but two-thirds of a great show is nothing to sneeze at.
With so much emphasis on cities and conflicts outside the familiar Vega setting, it's really the Vega storyline itself that's lagging behind the rest right now. There's ample potential with the current status quo. Claire Reisen and David Whele's war for control of the city is quickly growing more heated, paving the way for plenty of betrayal and conspiracy and all that good stuff. But something about the execution is falling flat right now. With Alex and Michael on extended vacation, Vega as a whole suddenly feels less vital to the series' mythology.
