The Wild Area may be a sprawling piece of land in the Galar region, but don’t expect Pokemon Sword and Shield’s main campaign to take much longer to beat than previous entries in the series. In an interview with IGN, producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori told us how big Pokemon Sword and Shield was compared to the mainline games that came before it.
Ohmori said “it’s hard to say” how Galar compares in size, but “it’s a comparable amount of main adventure content.” Rather than focus on size or game length, the new gameplay elements may have players spending more time in the Galar region while adding “more replayability to these games.” “We always try to surpass ourselves,” says Masuda, “but I think you can expect at least the amount of content that you would have seen in previous generations.”
