Guy Beahm, known online as Dr Disrespect, is launching a new AAA studio called Midnight Society. Working alongside former Call of Duty and Halo developers, the new studio is taking a "community approach to game development" that plans to involve players and influencers at all stages of development.

In a press release, we learned that Beahm co-founded the studio with industry veterans Robert “fourzerotwo” Bowling and Quinn DelHoyo, along with support from esports entrepreneur Sumit Gupta. The studio is still starting up, as they are currently hiring for many positions.

However, the studio has already started working on its first title, which it says will be announced soon. The studio also launched a website, Twitter account, and Discord.

We'll have to wait and see what this community approach looks like, but Bowling gave some insight into the studio's philosophy, saying, “players are the lifeblood of our games, and so often games get designed in a bubble, with few touchpoints for the players to help shape the final product before it’s too late. Our approach is completely open and focused on building experiences that evolve with our players.”

Beahm added that the studio wants to, "make games that defy the one-and-done publishing model and reward all those fans and influencers who make them a success."

We first learned Beahm was planning to start a gaming studio back in August when he shared a job listing on Twitter saying he was looking to start up a new "AA/AAA gaming studio" with a unique twist. Back then, the goal was to develop the studio in "partnership with a select list of mega influencers."

Beahm is a former game developer-turned-streamer, now returning to his roots in development. However, Beahm is surrounded by some controversy. In 2020, Beahm was permanently banned from Twitch. The reason was never made public, but Beahm now claims he knows what cause him to be banned.

While he hasn't shared the reason himself, he's now suing Twitch, saying, "I've known for months now the reason why and I'll just say this right now champs, 'there's a reason why we're suing the f**k out of them.' I don't know how else to put it. The amount of damages and you just don't — nah, no, no." Beahm did return to streaming on YouTube but said at the time he's not interested in any exclusivity deals.

Alongside Beahm are Bowling, who worked with Beahm on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and DelHoyo who has worked as a level designer for Gears of War and Halo.
