I would like to begin re-wicking my prebuilt OCC coils, I've read that there are a few easy ways to do it. I would like to simply remove the old cotton and thread in new cotton.
My question is, will dry burning the OCC coil wire without cotton in it cause the rubber grommet to burn and cause a short? In a tutorial someone warned about this. If so, is there another way to clean the gunk off of coils without disassembling it? Also, at what point should I stop reusing the same wire?
