Dual Coil 1.0 ohm (+/-) RDA Build Help

So as my intro states, I do not vape, but my wife does. While at a local B&M she had a hit off a dripper and loved the flavour.

She does not weak out over stuff the way I do, so she just just like " well I can;t build al that" and let it go.

But the more I looked into it, it does not seem to hard, and looks like the kinda stuff I like to do.
So I am going to build her a RDA set up that she can use as a treat while she rocks her Nautilus as her everyday Tank set-up.

Her current set up is a Shenix Mini Bomber 30W

• Type: vv/vw ecig min bomber 30W
• Material: Aluminum&Brass
• Power:7W-30W
• Load: 0.3Ohm-3.0Ohm
• Thread: 510 thread
• Output voltage: 3.5V-8V

With the Aspire Nautilus Tank ( 1.6 ohm catgo)


The Goal is a dual coil build that hits about 1 ohm, her current rig. (vertical coils would be cool)
So first things first, I need to get and RDA, but as this is just an experiment I don't want to break the bank, so are there any recommendations on a decent RDA for around $20-30 or even a clone to start with?

I will use Kanthal A1 wire, still need to determine the wire gauge, but thinking of either 28 or 30g.

I am currently exploring the web for ideas on what to wick with and how to wick it.

What are you looking for in a RDA, besides flavor? Lots of airflow? Airflow control? Wide bore drip tip, or even extra wide?

When my wife got her Mini Bomber, we looked at the Kanger SUBTANK, but she hated the lack of airflow. If I had to pick one attribute, airflow control would be it, she really loves the airflow she gets with her Aspire.

As for drip tips, I think she would be ok with a Wide bore, but not the extra wide. Again this would be a "treat" set up and not her every day vape, unless of course I do I good job and talk myself into being her full time builder...lol

Take a look at the following RDA. You can build either single coil, or dual coils in it. You'll need a 510 drip tip (= standard size). The airflow is adjustable. The flavor is excellent.

For now you can use the build in reader in the device itself. However, I highly recommend getting one.
The cheaper versions aren't as accurate. You want one, that shows at least two digits after the decimal point. The best Ohm reader in the market is made by USA Ohm Meter. They're pricey, but worth every penny.

FYI, in order to tweak the flavor, you can play with the airflow and power (Watt) settings.

The Mutation X is more of a cloud chaser RDA.
Other options for a flavor RDA would be the TOBH or the Tugboat V2. However, both don't have airflow control. Another RDA, I didn't expected to produce good flavor is the Vertex (I have the clone).

Yes. According to the specification: "...Compatible with: 0.3-1.0 ohm atomizers..."

Problem with a mech mod, the batteries won't last long for a 0.5 - 0.75 Ohm build as you mentioned you wanted to build (20-30 Minutes). I usually aim for 8-10 wraps in a coil. More surface, more vapor. I'd go with a regulated mod that can do at least 60W, in order to have more flexibility in adjusting the power, especially with 0.5 Ohm builds. Take a look at the steam engine (the link I posted earlier) and experiment with different wire gauges. Click on the "how it works" in the bottom left corner and read about heat flux and heat capacity.
However, a good beginners (cheap & original) mech mod is the Magneto.

First, Fasttech's shipping duration is unpredictable.

Reading the specifications of the mod, with a proper resistance of your coil builds, you shouldn't have any problems. The highest wattage I've used so far was 70W on one of my Sigelei.
I don't know much about the Xtar batteries. However, their chargers seem to be pretty good. For batteries look in the following sub forum, you might find your answers there. You could also post a question about batteries there.

Before pulling the trigger on any device myself, I do a google search for reviews. In addition, when I started utilizing RDAs, my only device was a Hana Modz DNA30 clone. Trying different coil builds, also with various wire gauges, I ran out of power (wattage) real quick. That's when I bought a Sigelei 100 Plus, shortly after a Sigelei 150W as a backup. What I'm trying to tell you, the more wattage your new device has, the better.

I understand, but before I drop the $$$ on a 100w mod I want to make sure that the Wife wants to persue dripping.
She decided she likes the Smok M65, so I will order that next week, and worst case it replaces her Mini-Bomber when I get a more powerful mod for dripping.

I didn't want to imply you needed to by a 100+ Watt device. Out of the 3 devices you listed, I would have picked the Smok M65 too.

Iv'e got one. Its my primary mod. Keep the screws snug, it works great @ ~20 watts...

I have a smok m65 pro. It has issues. It is designed to automatically ramp down your power IF the battery is too low. However, it does this even when the battery has more than enough power. This is because it has chrome plated top and bottom plates, on both sides so the battery contact is chrome plated, and this is not a good conductor, so often times it "thinks" that they battery is too low due to poor conductivity and lowers the watt's to compensate. You can FIX this by taking the top and bottom plate off and sand off the chrome finish, including taking a drill bit and drilling out the chrome on the screw holes. It's not that hard to do, and since I did that it doesn't happen very often anymore. However....you should not have to do all that to get it to work.

Also, I do not find it very accurate as to it reading your ohm's properly. I have .25 ohm builds that it won't allow me to use (despite it claiming you can do down to .2). Compared to my IPV4 which is way more accurate on the reading of the ohm's

I saw a video about the sanding thing. At 20-25 watts it hasn't yet become an issue for me. But I'll sure break out some sandpaper if it does!
