Makes sense that some metals will come off the coil while vaping.

And kanthal does rust, it is iron based.
Anybody that has touched rusty metal can tell you that the rust will easily wipe off onto your hand and fabric.
No reason it couldn't also flake off while vaping and be inhaled.
