Welsheimer said there was no damage to the condominium unit and fire crews were on the scene for about 30 minutes. However, he noted that had the resident not been home, there is a good chance that the malfunction with the device could have caused a fire.

The fucking thing is still plugged in!

It no longer has a chance of catching fire, the thermal runaway is over and the positive and negative are no longer connected inside the battery.


It's surprising that the fire department is this stupid- 5150

Hmmm, Ive charged mine over 50 times with a 1 AMP charger with no problems.

I keep my Kanger e-smarts on a small dinner plate when charging. If they melt-down it should be limited to smoke (I hope).
My oldest 'battery' is nearing in its 300'th charge and nearing end of life.
Do the hazards of what happened above increase as a batt gets old ?
Or do you think that Aspire may have been dropped/soaked or such ?
