EA Sports has made the decision to change the cover art for NHL 16 following rape allegations made towards Chicago Blackhawks right wing Patrick Kane.
Speaking via Twitter, EA Sports issued the following statement:
“In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA SPORTS NHL 16. He will not appear on the EA SPORTS NHL 16 cover nor participate in other EA SPORTS NHL 16 promotional activities.”
The new cover features Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, as opposed to the previous cover which featured both Toews and Kane.
