My friend just got a rig mod and is using his battery (effest) upside down to get it to fire since it won't fine when put in properly. Is this safe, and how can this be fixed?

Looking at the pictures for that mod as I don't have one personally I'd guess the positive post in the efest battery you have is flat and isn't making good connection with the atomizer pin. You really should take a closer look at it and get it to fit and fire properly.

I also do not own one but looks like the pins are adjustable. Your friend should be able to easily adjust the pin to make proper contact with battery with the battery placed in properly

See? Looks very adjustable to me.

Your friend should completely disassemble his mod and study every part for a minute. Get a thorough understanding of how it all goes together, gets adjusted, etc. This should probably be done while examining the battery and atty at the same time so the entire combination of gear and how it all goes and works together is fully understood.

I have a rig too and i am pretty knowledgable about it. I adjusted his pins and everything and it still only fires upside dow. My suggestion for him is to take it to a vape shop and have them check it out. Almost all my friends have rigs or manhattans and we have never had this problem.

You give vape shop employees too much credit and yourself not enough. It's a simple piece of gear. You guys should be able to figure it out. Take it apart again. Look at everything. Look at the battery. Compare the parts and battery to others. Screw the vape shop. Sort out your gear. Let us know what you find.

I'll take a stab at it given the little information and no pix - but experience.
The battery is shrinkwrapped around the bottom edge. The mod holds battery base based on this so switch works and battery doesn't rattle.
So, my guess is, if you put a straight edge across the battery bottom, you see a gap between ruler and battery's conductive base.
Upside down, this is not the case. 510 end is a little more forgiving in design.

The bottom plunger needs to plunge more.

Do not trim the wrapper to fix the problem.
It could cause the mod to be 'on' all the time.

I considered wrapper problems also. Should be no reason a careful examination couldn't find the problem whatever it is.

The wrapper on his positive side of his battery is peeling off. Apparently it was working fine like that earlier and then when he got to my house it stopped working and thats when he found out that it will only fire if the battery is in upside down. P.S- I like this site a lot because people reply with helpful info (such as learning how to make a copper spring when mine broke) and in a pretty short amount of time. Thanks guys.

But is the wrapper preventing the fire button from making proper contact with the negative end of the battery?

However, in the end, it doesnt matter which way the battery is as long as its not touching/shorting..
