I walked into a new vape shop today to get a new rba base for my egrip since I broke the last one. Turns out the person working there was someone I knew from preschool through high school. He gave me a free bottle of juice which was pretty nice.
He happened to have an egrip of his own that he never used, so he gave me some coils that he made for it. They looked different than the standard 10 wrap 28 gauge coils I build (just like the premade ones you buy). I asked, and he said he made them 8 wrap 26 gauge which comes out to .8 ohms... I mentioned the egrip isn't made to handle any less than 1.2 ohms and he said he used to do .8 all the time and it was fine.
Keep in mind, there is an OLED version of the egrip now that can handle .5 ohms. We both have the regular one.
So, should I trust his judgement and use these .8 ohm coils, or will I ruin my egrip? I've been using one of the coils all day and it works fine so far, but I'm worried it will short my device after a while.
TL;DR - Is it safe to use .8 ohms despite the egrip being said to only handle 1.2?
