Ek clone

So I ordered one of the $5 ek tanks from angel, came in today. First attempt at building, and I found a good shozza video on an erl that in gonna kinda use as my guide. However, already before diving in to the build I've noticed some possible issues. First of all I couldn't get the top cap off without using some pliers. Secondly, loosening up the drip tip also loosened up the chimney section. & thirdly, that little ring that goes under the juice channels wasn't installed, thought oh shit. Turns out it was in the bag with extra orings. That said however, I put it on and it seemed very tight, I'll have to watch the video again after I clean it to better understand exactly how its supposed to fit. Just wondering if others that have this tank or other clones have any insight. That threading with the drip tip especially has me worried that if when I need to loosen it up to fill it it totally loosens the chimney. It did come with extra o rings some kanthal and what I'm guessing is silica wick. When I'm more awake and alert I will attempt to really dive in to this thing.

The ring is primarily for silica I think. I've taken to just leaving it off with cotton myself. The notches line up with the channels if you do. Sounds like the threads are hanging up at the top of the chimney. Might want to work the cap and drip tip back and forth on it some while it's apart and see if you can get it to not want to stick so much. I tried the shozza style wicking when I first got it and it mostly worked OK. When I started using Japanese organic I took to peeling back the top woven layer after I had it in there and trimming the rest at the curve then running the woven layer down the channel. I've never had a leak or dry hit since and I mostly use 80% VG in it.
Edit: Just in case make sure the o-ring on the inside of the top cap where the chimney threads in is there. Probably is but I thought I'd mention it.

With a lot of these clones I think that the final phase of construction consist of assembly by a freaking Gorilla!

Most of the time I do have to resort to using pliers to get them apart for the first time.

But as long as they vape I am happy:D

Thank u all. I figured for less than $10 with shipping I could step up to an rta, looking forward to when I have the time & patience to really dive in and give it a go.

All that said I'll find some Japanese cotton and wait a little bit. Was gonna use that silica but i doubt that ring on mine will fit. Our little shop didn't have any. All good, have plenty of coils to get me by for a bit. Was gonna try to go for about 1.5 ohm, not totally sure what resistance I should shoot for. Will be my very first build so its gonna be a learning curve anyway.
