Hey VU. I haven't been here long. But I've been vaping for the past 4 years. To be short, I spend most of my vape funds on authentic vape gear. So I have some left over for juice. But at the rate I go through juice, buying premium juice is tooo expensive. The real reason for me wanting to DIY is so I can open myself up to other flavors without investing too much money into a flavor I might not like.

So my questions here are. Where do you buy your VG and nicotine? Who do you think offers the best flavorings?

I completely understand the dangers of nicotine. I will be using nitrile gloves at all times.

Best flavors are a matter of preference, really. Most companies make some good ones. I use FlavourArt (FA), The Flavor Apprentice (TFA), Capella (Caps), Inawera (INW) and a few Nature's Flavors (NF). Do you have a preference for fruit, desserts, creamy, tobaccos?

I normally get my VG from Bull City Vapor, I've purchased from Ecig Express and RTS, too. My last order came direct for Essential Depot.

Nic, I get from Vaperstek. I hear good things about Nicotine River, too.

I understand flavors are preference. Im doing research now on all these flavor distributors. Im more into fruits, nuts, desserts and cremes. Not a fan of tobacco or mint or coffee.

Fruits, you can't go wrong with FA, though TFA, CAP and INW do have some very good ones.
Nuts, I like FA
Desserts, FA and CAP
Creams, FA and CAP.
Vanillas, FA

FA and INW are very conentrated, doesn't require much. TFA and CAP, maybe a little less concentrated.

Where do you buy your mixing bottles and other mixing gear?

I mix by weight. I bought a $15 pocket scale of Amazon, every time I try to link to it the link breaks, but this is the name of what I have.
Horizon Ds-19 Digital Pocket Scale, Precision Jewelry Scale, 500g By 0.01g

As far as mixing supplies, I just mix directly into the bottle I'll be using, even when I was measuring with syringes (also found on Amazon).

Plastic bottles I pick up from different vendors, wherever I might happen to be ordering from at any given time. You can also find them on Amazon, Ebay and Fasttech. Glass bottles I get from http://packagingoptionsdirect.com/ to store nicotine or if I need glass bottles for mixing. Some prefer glass, I'm fine with either. Caps are purchased separately, sizes listed under whatever bottles you choose.

I'm all for ease of use, easy clean up, so, I mix into the bottle I'll use for the final mix, shake it and vape it, or store it if the flavors need time to meld.

Ive only shopped at ecigexpress and bullcityvapes.. i buy flavors in 10ml to sample, its only 2 or 3 bucks per bottle... then if i like them ill buy in larger bottles...
Currently using capella, flavourart and the flavor/perfume apprentice... never really tried any others. Ill usually look at a recipe that calls my attention and order flavors accordingly, then ill mess around with my flavors for my own recipes...
Only nic ive tried is from ecigexpress.. ive tasted my juice with and without the nic and they taste the same to me... some people say it changes flavor but ive never experienced that.
Bottles and syringes i got at bullcityvapor.

Mine began a few nights ago and I won't be looking back!

I look forward to seeing what kind of recipes you come up with, or try!

Have fun!

Bull city vapor is great, there flavors come in dropper bottles, pick out a few recipes you might like, save them and order flavors according. I have made orders where I didn't save. And going thru my shipment I realized I couldn't remember what some of it was going to be used for.

Anywho I like to use e-juice me up calculator, it runs on Windows pc. Check out Amazon for disposable pipettes 3ml ones work fine, I think they only cost around 6 bucks for 100. DIY is blast.

@Twztidwoudz offered some sage advise. Allow me to repeat ot in case it went by too fast. Pick some recipes that appeal to your tastes and buy flavorings to make those recipes. You be surprised (perhaps) to see how often people will post a list of flavors they bought 'cause they 'sounded good' but the have no idea how to combine them so they ask "what can I make with these?" There are ;ots of recipes that fit your flavor preferences. Keep it simple at first. THen we'll see about making e-liquids as good or better than those premium juices and do so for pocket change.

Welcome to DIY. It will add another dimension to the fun and pleasure of vaping!

Thanks everybody. Lots of good advice. Will look through recipes and order what I need. Is there anything I should be asking?

There are surely lots of questions to ask. Ask away when you find them. Best recomendation before buying is read as many threads as possible...the time you spend reading will be paid back you you make your first order (or 2-3 orders )
